it sucked balls, the graphics where kinda ok i just hated the main character (hes bloody voice was sooo annoying) and that stupid level where your walking around sum battle field and bein attacked by dead soldiers TERRIBLE

at best it was a rental, and it looked ok. If this comes out i might just game fly it i'm sure their engine should have been better now considering that they have a second title in the works being the Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. either way this game should be coming out in 09 so it should look better and play better than the first.

Well the first game was kind a slow, I mean the main character movement and the whole gameplay feel was quite slow, considering it was an FPS game. Hopefully the fix that in the sequel.

The Darkness was an awesome game, one of my favorites yet in this gen.
I cant remember the last time I got so attached to a character in a game (Jenny) and the scene where she was killed, well thats in my top 10 most heart wrenching moments in videogame history.

All of my friends loved it as well, not sure whats with the weird kids on N4G hating on what was a pretty kick ass game. B+

I thought the first one was good for a very early next-gen game.
Hopefully the 2nd will enhance everything good about the first and tweak all the wrongs as well as employ some new mechanics.

I for one liked it a lot! It wasn't the same like TIRED fps games I've been playing of late and it seemed much less linear with all the side missions you could do for people. I liked the story, another thing in fps's which are completely lacking (kill some aliens/soldiers rinse and repeat) but more importantly I loved the atmosphere it created which was brilliant. The only other fps I'd rate for atmosphere is COD4 and thats it.

I'd would rather spend my money on this sequel then yet another World War 2 game or another "Gee, let's kick some alien ass" fps's

Eagerly awaiting a sequel after finishing the original. Just hope it all pans out for Jackie after that ending I witnessed :)

The first game was excellent, and like a couple of other people mentioned, the mood of the game really drew me in.

The story, open world aspect and all of the cool darkness powers I thought were brilliant. Lets not forget about those cute little darklings and how they would go around and piss on dead people lol

Man this game was complete garbage I had to torture myself to even beat the frickn game.......SOME OF THE WORST VOICE ACTING EVER! lol damn main character sounded like Steven Seagal.....it was really....everytime they tried to give emotion and feeling it was the same damn voice with no emotion what so ever....nothing....let alone the games story didnt make any sense and had no real backbone.....

I guess some companies will make anything if the first one makes some money

O forgot....the fps controls were really bad and didnt feel natural which is a pain when trying to aim and shoot

I thought it was a really good game. Not the greatest game ever played, but it was fun. Using the Darkness was pretty cool for some stuff (eating guys hearts was well done graphically), and using that tentacle to chuck people around, that was classic (if you flicked the analog sticks just the right way, you could send someone clear across the level, very cool to watch). Though your characters voice didn't really make sense (he's only 21 and he looks and sounds like that, man I thought he was more like 31 or 41 even).

Definately a good game, though I wished I would have bought it when it was 19.99 instead of 49.99, but whatever. Short and sweet, but crappy multiplayer (well, crappy in the way that nobody plays it so I could barely try it out). I have to give it a solid 8/10, or at least a very high seven point something out of ten. Hope the sequel sees some improvements.

ISN'T just mindless pointing a gun and shooting nonstop.

The Darkness wasn't a great game, but it was certainly a unique FPS in that you had cool powers.

the game was more like a First Person Adventure game than a first person shooter, and maybe that's why i liked it.

i agree that Jackie's "Goodfellas" voice was grating, but the atmosphere of the world was good, the story was well done, and the Darkness powers were pretty cool.

i can't say i've played many FPS games where you had demon tentacles that could eat people's hearts, but i don't play many first person shooters.

personally, i'm burned out on FPS games and the Darkness was a nice break from the standard "gray, war torn battlefield (choose your era, but you're limited to WWII, or modern warfare)."

in either case, a sequel is surprising, but there are too many games on my radar to give Darkness 2 much thought. the first one was a great filler game, while i waited for the games that i *REALLY wanted to play came out)

I wonder if they release the remake of Chronicles of Riddick before this sequel?

Also i have to agree with the people giving this game the credit it deserves yes the game had faults such as Multiplayer which im not even sure they tried to patch and the missions in hell which where a bit boring because it was walk shoot devour heart so guy doesnt get back up. But the game was still entertaining regardless of these points i think i finished it 4 times. I cant put my finger on why i kept going back to the game.

The Riddick remake isn't gonna happen? Damn, that was a good game. I have the PC version so there wouldn't (probably) be much of an improvement besides possible multiplayer or level additions, but it would have been fun to go back and try it again. PC graphics vs 360 graphics for this game couldn't have been that big unless they went back and remade most of the game (remodel everything, etc.. etc...).

It was a probably the best rental of 2007 and this will probably be the best rental of 2009. Completely too difficult at first then too easy. Had some really awesome moments...the hell levels, watching movie with girlfreind, and some of the powers were great...the rest was pretty crap.

I liked the first game and im exited about the sequel and cant wait for it. Sure Multiplayer was crap but they can take that out, we dont need MP in every game. I say in The Darkness 2, just take out MP. The single player was where it was at anyway. The story was just so awesome. I never heard about The Darkness prior hand, the comic book and stuff. But after the game its now one of my favs.

I loved the darkness.

I loved the feeling of ultimate power that the Demon Arm gave me.

Seriously....never before had a game given you the ability to send out a tentacle to skewer people and then send them flying, with a shower of blood and a gaping hole in their body...

Seriously....it was almost disgusting how efficient the demon arms were. I could easily take out 7 or 8 guys in rapid succession, and then fling them a quarter mile...haha!

Or....picking up a cop car and flinging THAT at people was fun too.

There needs to be more games with demon arms. Skewering people is just too much fun to ignore.

Also, I liked to skewer people, and then walk around with them for about 20 minutes while completing other objectives.

Then I'd be like..."oh, sorry sir, are you still skewered on my tentacle? Have a nice day!" *fling*

the 1st one was ok. story was great but gameplay was poo.
make the character faster, better lighting, faster loading times (seriously bored the crap out of me), good multiplayer, improve the shooting aspect, and of course make the game much longer :)
thatll force me 2 buy it, especially the further the story

loved the first game.....cant beleive so many others didnt...
was a refreshing change from just using guns the whole time. My only criticism would be the ending....it was ok just ended a bit to quickly. i would give it 8.5 out of ten for back when i completed it a good while ago
