Rayman Origins Sequel Leaked Through Survey

A sequel to Rayman Origins is in the works, according to an Arkenford marketing survey. A user sent photos of the survey to Neogaf, outing a number of new locations by doing so.

This is great news but what is happening with BG&E2 ??

SpiralTear4382d ago

I agree. While more Rayman is awesome and somewhat surprising news (considering the supposed sales numbers), Ubisoft needs to shed some light on Beyond Good and Evil 2, especially since its development is supposedly tied with Rayman Origins' success.

As for this sequel, I hope there are more bosses. I thought Rayman Origins needed more of those. Either way, exciting news.

... and just release Rayman Origins 2 as a PSN/XBLA game, meaning at least a ten-fold of sales, as opposed to trying to sell it at 60 bucks as a retail-game, and watching it 'flop' until it hits the bargain-bins.

It's a brilliant game, no doubt, but it was clear that most gamers weren't convinced that it was '60 bucks great'.

Release it as a downloadable game for 15 bucks, sell at least 10 times as many copies, and watch everyone be happy: Ubisoft happy with it's sales, gamers happy with a great game for a great price, and obviously reviewers already happy if it's as good as Origins.

BG&E2 is for the next gen of consoles .. Ancel project is rumored to be too big for this gen to stay true to what he wants to do.

So let's wait ..

it really saddens me that origins flopped in sales.
it was really a fresh experience between those bloody shooters.
smh, gamers! SMH!

NYC_Gamer4382d ago

It flopped because of Ubisoft and their high price tag at retail....

LoaMcLoa4382d ago

More like zero marketing...

Moncole4382d ago

The game is worth 60$ because its great.

Yi-Long4382d ago (Edited 4382d ago )

... and yes, it IS great, but is hasn't convinced the gaming-audience of it's full-price retail worth which is why it (sadly) 'flopped' at 60 bucks.

Ubsioft should have been smarter and less greedy, just selling it as a downloadable title for 15 bucks, and it would have sold at least 10 times as much as it did on day 1, plus it would have remained a must-buy downloadable game for years to come, appearing in every downloadable top 10 list, meaning it would have sold well for years to come.

Now that it's 15-20 bucks, more and more people are picking it up. It's gotten great reviews and word of mouth, so it's still selling, but obviously it was marketed in the wrong price-range at launch.

How are sales on steam looking? And soon on Vita?
Seems as all the combined sales actually made a profit.

i think they should try to make a rayman 3D open world game for PS5 & Xbox Series X

PS-Gamer-1986855d ago

Still waiting for an origins and legends successor. My wife and i were addicted to these games at the time.

IanTH855d ago (Edited 855d ago )

I'll be curious if they make one. If they do, it won't look like they did, at least. Ubisoft retired the UbiArt framework used to make these games, apparently because the tools were too hard to work with across their many studios. Which is a bummer for sure, as I feel those games having a fairly unique aesthetic also benefitted them.

EDIT: Apparently I misremembered. They did say "hence the decision to temporarily put it aside", but they also said "it’s still there, and you will see other things using it". So it sounds like a new game could possibly still use UbiArt.

Fantastic game. Have great memories playing Origins on the Vita.

I will say though, around 2/3s of Origins' levels can actually be unlocked in the even better Rayman Legends which you can find dirt cheap these days.

Legends has so much variety and those music levels are amazing.

Loved the rayman games especially origins and legends.

Even the first Rayman game is still worth picking.
