Enemy Front takes the FPS back to WW2

It wasn’t all that long ago people were crying out for a break from the once-tiresome WW2 FPS scene, only to have COD4 blow our minds with its super cool modern warfare setting. There’s no denying, however, that the once impressive and original modern setting has dwindled recently after what can only be viewed as over-use. Well happily fans of the classic FPS setting can load up their Thompsons and shine up their Nazi killing badges, because Enemy Front is taking us back to the Second World War.

I actually kind of miss the ww2 theme. That was one of the cool things about Resistance 1. It was basically ww2 with aliens. Wish it could've gone back to that theme. Maybe when the pure chimera find their way back to earth. Chimeran War 2 anyone?

I have been waiting for a good WW2 shooter for years now (although the sandbox game The Saboteur is simply amazing in the British sense- reply if you agree) so I am pretty happy with this news. I am also confident in City Interactive, they made some WW2 games with very original themes in the past but they just plain sucked, since Sniper: Ghost Warrior this studio has improved a lot and I will buy five copies of this game just as a symbol, hope that they know that their effort is being appreciated and that we need a hell of a lot more of such games

Yeah SP is pretty much MP maps with bots but MP is pretty unique for a FPS

yeah man i liked the old cod ww2 games. the primitive weapons made it more intense. i would love to see it come back. there is still so much more to do to make military games more realistic. and ww2 was just fkn brutal beyond belief.

WW2 games are fun,the MP is a tun of fun too..still haven't gotten Red Orchestra 2 haven't see a review or many people taking about it.PSN is down so might as well log into Steam.

This is what the old Medal of Honors were about. Here's hoping for a great game :)

Modern setting isn't over-used :S

I'm not counting every recent CoD game because they are all the same as MW1. If you bought them all and are sick of the modern setting then that is because you played a modern set FPS for 4 years running... and wasted like £180 on one game.

There still hasn't been a modern FPS that does it right imho (though the gunplay in BF3 and every CoD is excellent). And the theory that the modern setting is being abused is only going to prevent a developer from making a perfect one because they risk it not selling well. (I can think of many ways to improve the formula, but I will hold onto these secrets just incase I have a chance to use them)

Time setting is irrelivant to FPS games overall. Gunplay, gameplay, environment design etc. are far, far more important. (lol @ whoever disagrees with this)

WW2 is just as "bad" as the modern setting in that they restrict the creativity to things that actually exist. The best FPSs always separate from reality and just try to make something fun (Halo, Half Life, Timesplitters, Quake, Resistance, TF2 for example). Turok would be good if they didn't keep making it just bad (hasn't been decent since n64 era, evolutions was OK I guess).
