GameDynamo - "First hitting US shores in September 2004, Fable was the best selling game that month, and arguably one of the greatest Xbox games ever. Fast forward to 2010 and Fable III has captured a whole new generation of gamers, or has it? It’s true, Fable III sold well in the USA and UK, but I can’t help but wonder how many gamers played it and quickly traded it in for something else. Here are a few reasons why I think the Fable series (long hampered by big promises and little follow-through) needs a reboot."
The Xbox 360 was a fantastic console in its day with some truly classic titles, but what are the seven best games for the console?
I'll go with,
Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Culdcept Saga, Shadow Complex, Ace Combat 6 with the flight stick,A Kingdom for Keflings, A World of Keflings.
Bonus Kinect Games: Happy Action Theater and Sesame Street.
*Skyrim was so bad on PS3 that it almost deserves to be #1*
Was this made by a.i.? No human being would put Shadowrun, Fable III, and Splinter Cell: Conviction into a list of the 7 best Xbox 360 games.
Would love to play Ace Combat6 on PlayStation, but Xbox decided to buy exclusivity and keep it off a competing platform.
The only mainline game I never played except for one level at a friends place. Game sold less than any other in the series if I remember correctly.
When the current gen XBOX offering is so lacking people need to refer to games released two generations back....
Baldur's Gate 3 producer Ryan Clark, who worked at Larian Studios for four years, has joined Fable developer Playground Games
Xbox is definitely the house of RPGs and it´s getting bigger and better by the day!
Fable will be fantastic!
Still waiting to see what kind of game fable will be. Hope it has gargoyles...probably not.
Hope you can pick between male or female and choose something else to distinguish yourself during character creation.
Super excited for this and perfect dark...excited to see what they make that is. Don't have any high hopes but maybe MS can prove me wrong. Playground has been their studio for a long time and the initiative is their only new studio
This is a good get as Baldur's Gate 3 is highly regarded.
But this has to be a hire for their next game right? Why would Fable need a producer now?
Can't wait to see what their '10 year plan' is for Fable.....just like Halo and now Forza. I'm curious to see just how badly they fuck this up with online focused, drip fed content, design and gameplay. Because I know it's going to be nothing like the previous games and anyone expecting that is in for a nasty surprise.
Fable II launched back in 2008 and remains the best the series has offered. Ahead of the series comeback, it's time to look at the classic.
Loved this game, oh and i always saved my dog at the end, hope the new Fable has a animal companion.
Fable 2 was the best inthe series. Peter waaaaaaay over promised with fable 1 and it was good but disappointing. He didn't go crazy eith hype for the second game and it was surprisingly awesome. Then he ran his mouth promoting 3 and it was the worst of the 3.
I only got to play it once 😩 I'm so tempted to buy a Xbox 360 slim but planning on getting the series x soon since I got a PS5 in February Im ready to get saints row 1&2 back, GTA 4, fable 2, but I also want to play infamous 1&2 again Sony screwed us over with the stream only for saints row 2 and other gems smh
I have to agree for the most part. Fable III wasn't at all the hit everyone was expecting, and for a reason. I think they set the bar high in Fable II and then they couldn't deliver something new with the next one, which is why 2 was popular. Hopefully they'll take their time to make #4...
a developer diary a few months before release talking about the 'major' changes, and everything was about marrying random people online, changing drapes in your generic house and holding hands with NPC's I knew that it was going to be the worst of the three (somehow it managed to be worse than 2).
They have to return to being a hardcore RPG (with a DAMN MANA BAR) bring back all the magic that was taken out that was in Fable 1, add more magic, add more customization, more quests, and better animations and town variation.
The marrying, and buying houses thing is useless because it doesn't effect gameplay at all. By the time you get to the middle of Fable 1/2 (I didn't get 3 because of what I saw) you have loads of money so renting out a place is useless. Marrying a generic NPC is also pointless and a child that has no effect on gameplay being born does nothing to make the game more fun.
Fable fan from way back here! Love the article.
Don't go forward in time, go back, either before Fable 1 or between 1&2.
Like it says, a lot wrong with the series is down to perception.
If it hadn't over-promised and under-delivered with every iteration, opinions would not be so split. Now you have this situation like LOST where half the camp hates that it didn't deliver and the other half likes it for what it was.
I would rather see it go away for a while so something new can be made. Perhaps reboot it later as the online title it was meant to be since MMOs are still rare on consoles for some mysterious reason.
