OXM UK: Fallout 3 Review

OXM UK writes: "First we need to say that this is not the game a lot of Fallout fans will have been hoping for, and it's going to be responsible for massed moaning as a result. Things are much simpler and more vicious this time around.

Fallout 3 uses the Oblivion engine, and inside Fallout 3 (just like Oblivion), is a beating heart of dungeons, loot and killing stuff. Sewers, metro stations, other vaults - if it's underground, it's out there and it's full of bad guys who are perfectly content to hang around in the dark waiting for you to come along, slaughter them and take their pants.

Hell, if you're fighting one of the weirder mutants, and you're in a cave, and you're using a melee weapon, you could be playing Oblivion.

The world's rich and interesting now, but also features invisible walls and one broken setpiece. Side quests are much more fun and varied, yet the plot's got a few holes. There are more voice actors, but some are awful and don't get the direction they need. And while radiation and rubble make navigating a puzzle instead of a bore, such obstacles can also turn the more urban corner of the map into a frustrating maze.

It all means that Fallout 3 doesn't quite rank as a true classic, despite its obvious potential: you'll have to settle for it being merely excellent. That's a compromise we're happy enough to make."

It sounds like it has all the bad things Oblivion had. I hate dungeons. That is why Final Fantasy has always been so popular with me. It had dungeons, but they never felt like dungeons (until FF12)

Far Cry 5....bullshit. This game had a great ending imo.

There is no game called Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, but Rebirth had a great ending imo. Felt robbed by the ending at first, but the more I've seen it and during my 3rd playthrough, I started to understand and realize a lot more that make me appreciate the ending.

I was enjoying FFVII Remake, even though those whispers throughout the game were annoying. But the ending was so bad that I don't even want to play Rebirth. On top of that, from what I saw on reviews, the ending of Rebirth is even worse.

Also, I'm glad to see Zero Time Dilemma being recognized as the trainwreck it is. After the amazing two first games (especially the near perfect second one), the low quality of the trilogy end is baffling. The new characters are bad, the old characters don't feel like themselves, a surprise "alien technology" pops out of nowhere, the big twist was like "eh?", and it doesn't really finish the story nor explains the loose threads from the second game.
