#DRIVECLUB #PS4SHARE moment - Scotland Racing

Wheel-to-wheel gameplay from DRIVECLUB, captured directly from PS4. When you race with the AI, drivers will take risks and exploit mistakes just like you would, which makes for some lively PS4 sharing moments.

As well as the lighting upgrades mentioned yesterday, the AI and the audio are still being improved because Evolution studios care about the smallest details. Better engine and collision sounds in the game will shown later on as development continues.

This game really looks stunning...can't wait to try it.

It almost looks like a completely different game from older builds.

ABeastNamedTariq3826d ago

"As well as the lighting upgrades we mentioned yesterday, we also want to let you know that the AI and the audio are still being improved too, because we care about even the smallest details. You can expect to hear better engine and collision sounds in the game, which we'll keep showing you more of during development."

Can't wait.

jimbobwahey3826d ago

Me neither. This is hands-down the most impressive next gen racing game without a doubt, Sony is really leading the way with their exclusives. Games such as this, Killzone and Infamous really showcase next gen brilliantly.

amiga-man3826d ago (Edited 3826d ago )

This game graphically is head and shoulders above anything Forza is doing, if the gameplay matches the stunning visuals in this game the Playstation will have yet another impressive exclusive.

Evolution studios and Sony know what they are doing, great stuff.

FamilyGuy3826d ago (Edited 3826d ago )

The engine sounds
The lighting
The clouds
The windshield reflections
The mirror reflections
The speed of the cars taking advantage
The photorealistic look
The kicked up steam(?) in that last second
The foliage/roadside environment
The gravel/pavement/street itself
The AI showing one car speed past, maneuvering at a high speed through the traffic, while another car tries to imitate it and is blocked off by a car not wanting to get passed again. VERY realistic.

It looks amazing seeing the cars actually fight for position.

Enemy3826d ago (Edited 3826d ago )

This is yesterday's reveal in case anyone missed it. http://n4g.com/news/1380899...

The improvements these guys have made over such a short period are insane. Come to think of it, they've improved it so much, that having it release in November would have been disappointing, seeing how they could do so much more with it.

"The sun, the clouds and the ambient lighting inside the car will all look better soon, because we're about to upgrade the lighting and atmospheric optics. When we do, we will share a full race with you. You won't have to wait much longer."

To think everything, even the clouds and most distant trees are fully modeled (not static like the competition's).

Can't wait to see that full race! These sunset/night races are probably going to be my favorite. It looks so chill. Racing through with my playlist is going to be so fuggin' amazing. The AI seems very aggressive as well, making for seriously intense moments.

Sevir3826d ago

I cannot believe how incredible looking the game has jumped in such a short time, This looks borderline photorealistic.

JAW DROPPING and astonishing at how great a leap the quality has taken forward since TGS build. Its soo nice to see AI cars on the track and not ghost cars! I'm really ready to play this game NOW!!! maybe we may even get Dynamic Weather on top of the Day and Night cycles in the game. I'd love to see it Dynamically Snow as the it goes from afternoon to Dusk to night! hell or Rain like crazy before the sun rises!... Must be a sight to behold.

This footage here Blows everything shown previously for this game, and lets not even mention that other game that's this is being compared to. its Not even fair anymore!

they did say it before it will look better and better and that was before the delay, and now on there facebook page they again confirmed the final version will look even better than these videos!
Now I really want the game :(

Xsilver3826d ago

Damn this games is really shaping up to be amazing.

El_Assenso3826d ago

The lighting in DriveClub is amazing! The best lighting system I have seen being used in any next generation game. Wow! Just wow!

Evolution are really working their socks off, now imagine what these extra few months of polish will do to this game!

The engine sounds are amazing. Not even a racing fan (2nd least favorite genre) But this game is blowing my mind. The vistas are insane in every video.

It's like driving through Uncharted 2 lol

ABeastNamedTariq3826d ago (Edited 3826d ago )

It seems like the sun is about to set in this clip.

Night racing. <3

I'm actually kind of pleased it got delayed, considering all the improvements they're making.

Who knew 20 total seconds of footage could get me so hyped? Lol. (That car speeding past gave me a chill up my spine.)

EDIT:

I also just realized that weather is going to be there from day one too, most likely! I hope they share a video of a race in rain! They also said on the page that they're optimizing the reflections in the mirrors too.

I don't think I've been this excited for a racer since.. Gran Turismo 6 lol.

FlameHawk3826d ago

Yeah I got to say the Day/Night cycle is pretty awesome, its my favorite feature about the game, its going to look awesome at night.

Felonycarclub83826d ago

Yeah when I saw that I just had to rewind it, am okay that it got delayed, am a big gran tourism fan but I have been waiting for a good arcade racing game and ever since they announced drive club I was like that is the game I have been waiting for

Kayant3826d ago

As some people on gaf have pointed out the new videos are looking closer & closer to the reveal ---> http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Hope they get there.

Kayant3826d ago

So good.gif... Am happy this got delayed and I get to try it on PS+ when I finally get around to getting a PS4. Maybe this will be the game to turn me into liking sim style racing ;)

Well done Evolution studios.

clmstr3826d ago

Wow, that Bentley sound!!! The game keeps getting better and better... ;)

Daves3826d ago

The cars sound great as they pass by, but the players car sounds all kinds of broken. But of course, this isn't finished yet, can only improve.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut8596d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio96d ago (Edited 96d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack96d ago (Edited 96d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander197296d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff218395d ago (Edited 95d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim96d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno95d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff218395d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 95d ago
Chocoburger96d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai96d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC96d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.

purple1011196d ago

i went to the article and theres only a couple racing games, cant find the button to move page on through all the adverts.

purple1011196d ago

ah its changed to a video now, strange, but il take it

Dfooster1195d ago

Dirt rally doesn't even make the list? Errm OK then.

Driveclub is over rated as well, with middle of the road handling and the 30fps killed it upon arrival for me.
