I had never played Pikmin before but decided to grab pikmin 3 and it has to be one of if not the best game ive played this year plus makes a nice change to all the FPS games out there at the moment plus its a challenging game. I was not to sure about wonderful 101 but after playing the demo im going to pick it up later on next month as it is a really fun game too.

I personally didn't play darksiders on my 360 but I got it for my wii u, was gonna get mass effect but wanted to wait for 1 and 2 to have that continuity aaaannd I still waiting on that but that's not Nintendo fault. after the first three months it became dreadful but if you sold it within three months you never gave it a chance.

Sadly, Nintendo doesn't offer next generation gaming experiences or a gaming experience we have not seen before like to the moon, Gemini Rue, Amnesia dark descent or Gone Home. In a nutshell yes, the fun factor is what matters. But modern gaming is different, a lot of gamers want both, and I today's gaming world, we can have both.

I give credit to Nintendo for sticking to their gaming roots, although for the Wii U it's not looking so good! I hope the situation can change.

I don't think that I'm the only one that feels that the $50 price cut will not be enough to stave off the eventual demise of the WII U. Looking at third party for example, the WII U basically has none! Even exclusive titles are barely benefitting Nintendo, the Wonderful 101 is a testament to that. The next generation is gearing up to go into full swing, and outside of a few choice titles, the WII U will pretty much be an afterthought once the big boys enter the ring.

Zombi U, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed IV, that new Tom Clancy game, Call of Duty Ghosts, Watch Dogs, Need for Speed, Lego City Undercover, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Sonic Lost World.

All third party games already released, or about to release only on the Wii U's first year of life. Many of these exclusive games. Next year Wii U gets Bayonetta 2 as well.

While I think that the Wii U could definitely benefit from MORE third party support, to say that the Wii U doesn't have it at all is, well, ignorant.

Out of those games not released yet how many will have equal support to the PS4 or XBOX 1? Hell they are already talking about how these games will be missing major features, if and when they're ported to the WII U, COD Ghost for the WII U has been on and off the table a couple times! Zombie U long touted as the definitive zombie game has what to show for it!? Meager sales! Most of those games futures hang in the balance dependant on if the WII U sell pick up, which IMO why Nintendo is opting to reduce the price of the WII U, because they know without it the competition will be too much, even with the games you mention coming out! I'm not saying I disagree with you but look at the landscape of gaming, do you think people wanted a slightly more powerful PS3/Xbox 360 with the WII U? I would say no, because if they did the WII U would be flying off shelves almost a year into it's life! Do people wanted the tablet? No, because tablets of today can do a thousand more things than a WII U tablet! You mention Zombie U, but it's performance as a launch title was mediocre at best, the same reason Ubisoft is doing some of the best flip-flopping in the industry today concerning the WII U.

I welcome being wrong concerning this, but paying attention to the latest trend concerning the WII U, it's not actually looking very promising.

First off it nothing wrong with hyping a game, console, or whatever for that matter! The difference is when the hype doesn't pay off! Here is such an example, instead of flying in under the radar, what does Reggie do!? He attract attention rigft before he's about to pass out of radar range, by badmouthing the competition, so in essence he is also leaving the door open for criticism! What's so hard to under stand about that?

Second when I bought my PS3, I paid $744 for it, bought 4 launch titles for it, Resistance 1, Call of Duty 3, Virtual Fighter 4, Fight Night Round 3, and Ridge Racer! On my first purchase I spent a little over $1100 after taxes! Most releases that have come out on my system of choice that I wanted I've bought. Now 7 almost 8 years into this generation I've accumulated close to 350 disc based games and at least 80 digital based games! To top it all off I own the Xbox 360 as well as a WII, but my proudest achievement is my PS2, with close to 500 games, you were saying!?

I am getting a Xbox one on day one as I want Forza and KI but I also want DK, Mario 3D, Sonic, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Zelda HD for the WiiU and I already own Pikmin 3 and ordered Wonderful 101 today and I ive also got Pokémon X on pre order to.

But Just because I think the line up for the WiiU is better than the X1 and PS4 dose not mean that it is the same for everyone else.

There are games I fancy on both X1 and PS4 out side of what I said but I have got to a point where I have need a rest for action, Hack and slash and FPS games as the PS3 and 360 have been battered with them this current gen so the Nintendo line up is a nice change for me.

Lol, compared to Nintendos first party titles none of the other consoles first party titles other than maybe Halo can even come close to the success of Nintendo. The launch lineup of the 2 other consoles is a pure joke, considering the hype over those two consoles. All all can say is Hardware Hardware Hardware... look, those jaguar cores in the Playstation are pure crap, you need at least 8 to have a somehow good performance. 1 Jaguar core doesnt even come close to a IBM PowerPC Core. It lacks the needed cache for each core. Maybe somebody should tell you, that AMDs CPUs the last couple of years with its 8 core lineups didnt even come close to Intels 4 cores i-lineup, even though it had double the cores, why? Because the cores looked at as a single pretty much sucks. IBMs PowerPC cores for example are used by the NASA, so much to the cores. If they used 10 jaguar cores, it wouldnt be any better. Not saying it aint faster than the Wii U, but the difference is way way smaller than most people believe, why? Because the Jaguar cores are really bad. Look at smartphones, when iPhone5 came out and Galaxy S3. S3 used 4 cores and iPhone5 used 2 cores, but the 2 cores were just as good as the 4 in the S3. Somebody who is informed should know way better, but I dont expect that from Console gamers, but I expect that from PC Gamers, they should know better.

I sure as hell won't (SS maybe if it's a more expansive and refined), but if people like those games then more power to them, one thing that's promising about Playstation consoles is the major new IP's that come with each console, as well as a continuation of their last. There is always something to look forward to.

It is true that Nintendo re-invents their franchise with each release for example Zelda, although each game follows the same formula they're very different from the previous game,to deny that is pure ignorance, but that's my gripe there are so many ways to cook an egg in the end it's still an egg.
It would be extremely nice if Miyamoto would direct his talent to a new major IP, say what you want but new IP's will always be more interesting and exciting than an existing one.

Small correction, The Wonderful 101 is developed by Platinum but the IP is owned by Nintendo and they paid for the development of the game.

Yeah, because fps are really inovative and new experiences. Far Cry 3 was one of the very few good fps this gen, I'll tell you that(I haven't played all of the fps, not an attractive genre for me, sorry). I'm excited with Zelda, DK, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros 4, Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, X and Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem.

What Sony showed when? Sony showed great AAA and great indie games to arrive at launch for the PS4. They showed better 1st and 3rd party support for the vita with boarderlands 2 and killzone mercenary. The best new ip, and one of the greatest if not THE greatest game from last gen in The Last of Us.

With the exception of The Witness, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Rime, I'm inclined to agree with him. Half the games are fps, then you've got some open-world stuff that I'm so so struggling to be interested in, and all of which feel like boring, broad triple-A usual suspects kinds of games (Infamous, Watch Dogs, AC IV), and then you've got a bunch of bland racing games. None of this stuff is even remotely innovative with the exception of watchdogs which is still gimmicky as all hell. Look at the Wii U's line-up and you see some seriously unique looking games, albeit not very many, but still.

Well they do make a lot of sequels but to say what they do is "nothing but rehashes and sequels" is a bit hyperbolic. I mean there are games like Xenoblade, Rhythm Heaven, The Wonderful 101, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, Fire Emblem and more that I won't list because I don't want to ramble.

There is also the fact that with the exception of Galaxy 2, none of the 3D mainline Mario can be compared to one another. Galaxy cannot be compared to Sunshine and Sunshine cannot be compared to 64 because they play quite differently from one another.

I will say that the New Super Mario Bros series is the definition of a rehash though, recycled music,graphics and gameplay all around. Hope we don't see that series again for a long time if not ever, unless they change things up considerably

QUALITY as you put it is subjective. Pikmin 3 is what I would call an extremely polished and QUALITY game as well as The Wonderful 101. And their lineup for the rest of the year looks pretty QUALITY to me (won't know for sure until I play them though) Also stop using the term "HD side", the Wii U is HD so it's somewhat redundant to say that.

I do agree that Nintendo definitely hasn't put their best foot forward since launch, that drought was absolutely ridiculous and was something Nintendo should have avoided at all costs and it's the main reason they are in the position they are now in with the Wii U.

The reason I tend to own both Sony and Nintendo platforms is because they both offer me something completely different from one another. Also I have to ask, how do you measure quality? If you show me Metacritic I can't take you seriously.

Most of the PS4 games are coming to my PS3. Sony lost me when they announced that you had to have PS+ to play online. I love Sony. I love their TV's, their Laptops even their consoles (PS3, PS2, PS1) but unlike the Sony Fanboys that made fun of Microsoft for charging to play online and now are not complaining about the fact that they now have to pay to play online on the PS4, I will not buy the PS4. Maybe under one condition. Wii U stops having games which will never happen and will most likely happen to Sony and Microsoft since they dont have a strong First-Party. Nintendo has strong first party studios and that's why I bought a WiiU for Nintendo games because everything else I will play either on PC or next gen consoles. And Nintendo games sell very good usually, but that's because there is barely anything else to buy.

Also I'm getting tired of their games, they mainly do games for the same IPs since over 20 years, they really need to start doing new stuff. I see Sony still as having the strongest first party with a healthy mix of games from known IPs and new very good IPs like we have seen this year with The Last of Us and earlier this gen with Uncharted or infamous among other new games.

Mario is in a game every few months which is why he's so popular and all the massive Mario games are massive due to bundling and huge marketing. Mario only sells so well because Mario = Nintendo, what else would kids want to play on a Nintendo console other than the next Mario game. If Mario games were released on Playstation or Xbox they wouldn't be very big and it's likely the games would be rated far less due to PS3/360 games being held to much higher standards whereas Nintendo exclusives always get a free pass for all the same problems (and more) that non-Nintendo games have.

Through siblings I've played on almost every Nintendo console/handheld since 1993, I can't say there's a single system selling franchise by Nintendo for me, the only game I've enjoyed is Zelda: Twilight Princess but even that isn't great.

I just don't like Nintendo therefore I don't like the Wii U or any exclusive games that have or will release for it, it's just 'meh' really.

WiiU sucked at launch, but now Wii U begins with Pikmin 3(my personal GOTY) and has the best exclusives line up.

People can cry about originality (that's the same who buy 10 random shooters per year), but the fact is that titles like Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei, Yoshi Yarn, Super Smash Bros U and obviously X are going to be very high quality titles, i can not assure that for Knack, Driveclub or Ryse, even if they're new IPs they just don't appeal me.

Later we'll get things like The Order 1886 and Quantum Break but for the moment the most promising next gen titles are multiplatform (i stopped FFXIII after 1 hour, but man that FFXV trailer is the most ambitious thing i've ever seen).

And Nintendo didn't even announce the New Miyamoto IP and the Zelda...

This is coming from a huge Nintendo fan. Nintendo should be the last ones saying this. There was never as much demand for the PS4 and even the XB1 before launch and straight to this day. Nintendo has the weakest specs this gen, limited 3rd party support, gimped multiplats the whole damn 7 11. They still faltered even with year to themselves for next gen. That's what hits me. Yes Smash and stuff are coming next year, but by then people would've already gotten a PS4 or XB1. Those damn games should've been there AT LAUNCH. And to anyone that says the Wii U is the only console with free online, yes, but it's beyond bare bones. PS+ and XBL (coming from someone who's not getting an XB1) destroy Nintendo Network. At this rate, I don't see myself getting a Wii U.

I don't get my check signed from the big 3 so my allegiance is with no one. I will however support the companies that offer me bang for my buck.

BTW the best selling game on the 360 was kinect adventures followed by COD and the PS3 COD is the best top 5 selling games.

Nice to see a Nintendo article where most of the people here share my views, opinions and perspectives on the Wii U...and Nintendo as a whole.

I came from another previous Wii U article where all the Wii U fanboys were trying to say that the Wii U could run AAA title games both on current gen consoles and next gen consoles. Like GTA 5, MMO's like FFXIV and Elder Scrolls Online and Gran Turismo 6...Infamous Second Son and Titanfall.

Im like "LMAO BS man. I call BS on all that." If the Wii U could run games of that proportion and caliber, then why the hell hasnt it yet? Why has absolutely no dev out there bothered to invest the time, money and resources to make a Wii U game comparable to any of the AAA titles I listed above? Instead all you continue to see from Nintendo and the Wii U are more of the same BS; Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Wonderful 101, Metroid, Pokemon, Smash Bros, etc... Even IF the hardware is capable of running true next gen titles, comparable to PS4 and XB1, we will NEVER see anything even remotely like them....because Nintendo is convinced all people wanna play is the same old BS we grew up playing as kids, in the 80's and 90's. They have no idea how to make a new IP and they have no idea how to appeal to anyone other than a casual audience.

At the end of the day, I could care less. I already have my PS4 preordered for Nov 15th. I've had a PS1, PS2, PS3 and I have been loyal and stuck by Sony for over 15 years, now. I've played other consoles...but I've always felt more "at home" with the PlayStation brand. Sony knows how to market, promote and appeal to me and my gaming standards. Nintendo and Microsoft just....doesnt.

I can say the things I say...because Im disgusted with what Nintendo has become - A company that has no regard for it's competition and only has "MEH" to say. Screw Nintendo. ^_^ ,,i,,

While I agree that these comments are not appropriate (especially considering the WiiU has the worst launch in HISTORY of ANY console), having Nintendo leave the console market would not be good.

They may not make titles that appeal to you, but having a variety of choices (especially for younger gamers) is a good thing.

Let Nintendo focus on the younger gamers and casuals. Let MS and Sony battle it out for the core gamers.

As a WiiU owner I have to say that Reggie needs to STFU! The WiiU from a tech perspective is lagging WAY behind the next gen consoles. No physical network connection (the one you can buy is USB connected and is actually SLOWER than the wireless), no hard drive and paltry storage (yes you can connect a hard drive, but the thing is/was 350 bucks!). The games are JUST now starting to hit, so Reggie running his mouth on launch lineup is pretty ironic.

One thing I forgot to mention is the issues with the WiiU OS ....sooooooo slooooow (now patched with a slight improvement). Additionally the constant application lockups are quite annoying (Netflix, Hulu Plus etc). If you are buying this thing and plan to stream, get ready to be disappointed. Having a physical network port would have helped immensely, but Nintendo decided to cheap out. I love their software, but they ALWAYS cheap out on hardware.

That said, HD mario and Pikmin 3 look GLORIOUS. I just wish they could be played on a better system.

Really Reggie??!!! I think it's time you stopped drinking the kool-aid and woke up to reality. I used to love Nintendo, I was a proponent for the Wii in fact. Right up until I realized that you guys have zero desire to cater to the hardcore or even your own core audience for that fact.

You could have several 1st party titles in development at any given time but instead you just push them out nearly one at a time and at the rate of about once per console generation. You depend almost solely on one man to be the only creative force in the company. Unlike other console companies you arrogantly turn a blind eye and deaf ear on your own audience (a group that only wants to see you succeed) and ignorant of your own doing, you walk around the industry like the emperor in his new clothes.

Your coming failure is more than deserved.

I bet Reggie is the one that came up with the Nintendo 2DS! Nintendo has been "Meh" for a long time. Glad Mario can't talk cause I know he's tired of being pimped game after game. Can we get some F-Zero, or Star Fox sequels or something... not "Meh" from Nintendo.

When you get 35k sales a month in NA, and only have 20% of the 3rd parties support. You know a $50 is NOT EVEN CLOSE to saving your flopping system.
