Grand Theft Auto V Righting The Wrongs Of Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto IV was fun at the time, but it seemed like the series was going backwards instead of forwards. It appears Rockstar is making Grand Theft Auto V bigger and better than any previous game in the series and this is a good thing.

I finished GTA4 twice but loves saints row 2 more, now it seems like GTA is back and brought the fun back in a big way

GTA Online could be a huge game changer

Donnieboi3931d ago

I'm hoping the GTA Online portion really gives us some things to do with all the money earned from Heists.

When the trailer said we could spend the money on tatoos, clothes, and cars--I though to myself: "we can already do that in San Andreas (ps2), and we still ad too much money lying around".

I'm hoping the online could offer some kind of persistent economy where we have an incentive to keep earning more money (after completing the main missions).

itspeaks3931d ago (Edited 3931d ago )

The trailer also said that you can invest in real estate, which yes is available in previous titles such as the infamous San Andreas, but it also said that stock is available to purchase. I don't expect there to be any hint of a real economy in a GTA title simply because the engine has enough to deal with on the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles, being as limited as they are. Still, it stands that Rockstar has said they have not yet shared all the ways to spend the in game money. We will have options and of course we all have our opinions, but you fail to see the whole picture.

showtimefolks3931d ago

i agree that would be awesome

also i believe we will get a kickass version on ps4 and xbox one along with pc where RS won't be so limited to what they can achieve on current systems

Donnieboi3931d ago

@itspeaks:

Real estate investment is not very hands-on though. Seems a little boring, no? If however, the crime statistics of a certain neighborhood effected the real-estate prices, THEN it would be more interactive, since we can effect those statistics via committing crimes (or squash the crime of others) in that particular neighborhood in which we want to buy the real estate.

But simply just investing virtual money on a virtual house that I likely won't have much use for, doesn't exactly sound like an engaging endeavor worth spending money on (or time spent, for that matter).

I loved gta iv it was fun but I did get bored of this one the fastest. Can't wait for gta v it looks awesome

Pisque3931d ago

It's strange because I absolutely hated GTA IV, god that this game was crappy compared to its predecessors.

PS3Freak3931d ago

GTA IV was actually quite good, it certainly was not "crappy" compared to it's predecessors.

My buddy and I still play online free roam to this day. Although, the city has gotten a little boring at this point.

VicodinViking3931d ago

I for one hope GTA V is improved drastically in terms of fluid movements. IV ruined the freedom of movement that San Andreas had, the gameplay alone was the biggest failure for IV. I expect better from V, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

elhebbo163931d ago

All I want from GTA V is to go bike riding close to a beach in my underwear with a handgun on one hand. thats all rockstar.

Geovanny3931d ago

I dont want it to be like SR3 though, just more fun.

GTA IV is dull in comparison to GTA V (videos at least)

Has anyone noticed a pattern?.. I mean the first 3D GTA, GTA 3 i found about average at best.. But after playing Vice City then going back to 3, 3 is barely playable and hardly any fun. Then they made an even bigger step with San Andreas.

Then for the first next gen game they went back to the seriousness and most of the dullness of GTA 3.. I never played the addons for it yet but, it seems they are bringing back everything that's fun about GTA, the humor of VC & SA plus the amount of vehicles & landscape to do everything in, not just boring city and no countryside.

I just hope R* listen and let us have scriptable/editable game modes and 64+ player online for the PC version, plus dedicated servers.

If R* fail i imagine everyone will just go back to the huge 200+ player servers of SA-MP.. But R* can easily do as good as that surely.

ginsunuva3931d ago

It's just that Liberty City (NY) is naturally boring.

Miami (Vice City) and California/Nevada (San Andreas) are just cooler, more open places. Not an ugly concrete jungle.

Cost of realistic looking movement.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar34d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo35d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg35d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos35d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
