Hideki Kamiya may do a heck of a lot of trolling on Twitter, but he does actually interact with fans quite a bit. Today, Kamiya responded to a couple of items.

Hopefully the first will be successful enough to warrant future projects.

PopRocks3593943d ago

Kamiya can prefer what he wants. As far as I'm concerned, he's a game design visionary. Hopefully the Wonderful 101 will be successful.

Xof3942d ago

Someone disagreed with you, which I can only assume was done out of ignorance. So for those who are ignorant, let me list out of few of the games Hideki Kamiya has directed:

Bayonetta
Okami
Viewtiful Joe
Devil May Cry
Resident Evil 2

He's also worked on other games in other capacities, including voice-work for Godot in the third Ace Attorney game. I mean, goddamn, Kamiya is one of those super-talented Japanese developers every gamer should be aware of, along with Shu Takumi and Shigeru Miyamoto.

badz1493943d ago

and I love The Incredibles! shame that this is Wii U exclusive as I'm not gonna buy a Wii U just for this. so here's hoping it will see the light of day on the PS4 sooner or later just like the how the 1st Viewtiful Joe found its way to the PS2!

Xof3942d ago

I bought a WiiU for this. And Donkey Kong. And Wind Waker. And Pikmin.

I may have jumped the gun a bit. But, really, I'm enjoying the system a LOT more than I thought I would. Only downside is the gamepad can't hold a charge for very long.

BlackWolf3942d ago

The TW101 IP is owned by Nintendo, at least partially, as they funded the game. So I'd say it's not gonna happen.

Dj7FairyTail3942d ago

Reggie Fils-Aime says it a New IP by Nintendo developed by Platinum Games.

Realplaya3942d ago

badz149 why do people like you always act like there will only be one good Wii U game coming out.Starting Next month the system will get consistent hits on top of that there are games that haven't been announced because there are other 2 screen devices.

badz1493942d ago

I like this kind of games just as I dig Viewtiful Joe and also love LEGO games but I don't find any Mario games to be interesting. I even enjoy Epic Mickey for goodness sake!

I've spent lots and lots of time playing Mario on NES/SNES/N64 and GB and Sonic too on Genesis which is probably why I found them not very interesting anymore! every other new Mario Karts, Mario Party, Tennis, or the side scrolling ones seem like more of the same just with better graphic to me! sure there are many elements added in with every iteration but in the end...they are just Mario games!

I treasure narration more than anything else these days and that's why I watched every second of MGS4 cut-scenes eventhough it was my 1st MGS game! I enjoy Uncharted, TLoU, RDR, GoW for their narrative nature that Mario games are lacking! so..your counter argument will be like "as long as games are fun to play..." stop there, it's not for me! action plaformer between Mario Galaxy and R&C or Sly or Jak...I simply choose the 3 I mentioned latter as they actually have GOOD STORY not just Bowser capture Princess, Mario goes from world to world to save her with Bowser as last boss! how many times do I have to play the same story (if THAT even qualifies as one) over and over?

after narration, I seek for fresh IP thus why 101 intrigued me! I always invest in new IP and indies too but overused character with little to no story? just not my cup of tea!

N4g_null3941d ago

Dude buy Pandoras tower, last story, xenoblade or x for the wiiu. Metroid other m or the prime series and then you have fatal frame. Even Mario RPG has a narrative. Paper Mario had some great adult humor.

It won't sell. Nintendo fans will miss this next to Mario and Pikmin. If Sony released this maybe on the Vita even, with a a small ad campaign this could've been a lot more successful than condemning it to be sold on Wii U. Game looks awesome though. Jealous. But not enough to warrant a purchase.

PigPen3942d ago

Sony games barely sell on Sony system. That sounds wishful for it to be on a Sony hardware.

dafegamer3942d ago

you couldnt be more wrong
"sony games barely sell on Sony systems"
lol

Dj7FairyTail3942d ago (Edited 3942d ago )

wrong.
I getting Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Zelda Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost Worlds and Super Mario 3D World.

Also this is a Nintendo IP.

Independent Game Studio does not own IP unless the Publisher who funding and publishing their games allow them to. This was revealed by Nintendo at E3 2012.

Shadowsteal3942d ago

You're getting it because there's nothing else to get on Wii U. I'm talking about the average consumer that bought the Wii U for Mario.

--Onilink--3942d ago

the only real problem i see for this game "sales-wise" is that its releasing 2 days before GTAV. I guess that most WiiU owners are multiconsole owners, so there's some possible conflict there.. but for my part, ill definitely get it day 1

Xof3942d ago

Well, I'm an omniconsole gamer, and I have zero plans to pick up GTAV. Ever. Haven't liked a GTA game since Vice City.

Shadowsteal3942d ago

Shame because so far San Andreas was the best.

Dj7FairyTail3942d ago

is GTA V on Wii U no.
GTA V is not PS4 and XBONE does that means something.

--Onilink--3942d ago

Just because a game is not coming out on the same console doesnt mean that its suddenly free. Anyone who owns more than 1 console will have a choice, gtav or w101. Its a same pool of money even if the consoles are different. And gta is always a sales juggernaut. So even if to some people it doesnt matter because they have money for both, or just dont like GTA, releasing something so close to GTA is a "questionable" decision

Dj7FairyTail3942d ago

uh yes it does.
If the people who are getting The Wonderful 101 doesn't care about GTA V or own PS3 or 360 to get it then it doesn't matter to them.

Wii U owners is spending money on Wii U games from August to December with Wii U killer apps comes in then yes The Wonderful 101 is going succeed.

Not to mention the game comes out later next month in Japan, Europe and Australia.
Americas is the only getting in September.

jcnba283942d ago

I don't think that's a big deal though since GTA5 isn't coming to Wii U.

Realplaya3942d ago

--Onilink-- If this game is releasing on the Wii U and Grand Theft auto isn't then sales won't be affected.

PigPen3942d ago

That is a hard case to argue even if there are some that own two or more consoles.

Hideki Kamiya On Why He Left PlatinumGames, His YouTube Channel, and His Next Game

In a wide-ranging interview with IGN, game developer legend Hideki Kamiya reveals why he left Bayonetta maker PlatinumGames and what's next.

darthv72129d ago

Long shot here but with him out of the picture... MS could get PG to finish Scalebound. As it is, the project was shelved and Ms still had all the work they had done up to that point. HK's mismanagement of multiple projects is what caused MS to pull the plug, but I feel they still wanted to get it done at some point.

gold_drake127d ago

if MS hasnt picked it up yet,it will never return. it was cancelled in 2017. 6 years ago.

MS owns the IP, not PlatinumGames.

Cacabunga127d ago

I have been waiting for a new Vanquish for a long time!! I barely imagine how the result could be on PS5

isarai129d ago

Sounds like Tencent influence was something he wasn't down with.

Levii_92128d ago

Sorry, you have been blocked by Hideki Kamiya. ❌

Zenzuu128d ago

“My work with Platinum Games was based on a relationship of trust with the company. I decided to leave because I felt that the direction the company was heading in was different from my beliefs as a developer. Without that element of trust, I couldn’t continue working there, and so I left, so that I could continue working in what I consider to be the right way.

“I don't think of games as products, but rather as works of art. I want to put my artistry into games and deliver games that could only be made by Hideki Kamiya, so that players can enjoy Hideki Kamiya games exactly as they are. I decided to leave the company and forge my own path, to continue making games that reflect the developers who made them.”

Hideki Kamiya Would Like to Make New Viewtiful Joe and Okami Games, Comments on Bayonetta's Future

Legendary developer Hideki Kamiya said that he'd like to make new Viewtiful Joe and Okami games with Capcom, he commented on the future of Bayonetta and on the possibility of collaborating with other creators like Tomonobu Itagaki.

XiNatsuDragnel151d ago

I hope he makes new ip in the future

lucian229150d ago

please no more viewtiful joe; game was cool the first time but i really dislike the whole look and attitude of it.

either make a new okami or a new ip

PRIMORDUS150d ago

I want a new Viewtiful Joe as well, and also Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 remade from the ground up for Switch. 😎

lucian229150d ago

pretty sure the visuals would have to be turned down; switch isnt strong enough to handle ps2 games

shadowknight203150d ago (Edited 150d ago )

Comedy at its finest. Upvote from me. Bought a switch twice, it's fun, but man, I always forget how Nintendo does things differently, I don't necessarily hate on it, but u gotta really stick with first party titles to enjoy there systems. And that wasn't always the case for them. Once upon a time.

FinalFantasyFanatic149d ago

@Shadowknight203,

The Switch's first party titles amaze me, you can get games that look and run that well on such old tech, but it's hopeless for AAA third parties, It makes games like BoTW/ToTK look like miracles.

shadowknight203149d ago

@fanatic
It goes to show, maybe I don't know anything, but I feel Nintendo might have there own engine for there studios? Something that works hand in hand with there hardware. I don't know I don't read up on the tech side of Nintendo developers

FinalFantasyFanatic149d ago

@ShadowKnight203,

I know the physics engine they built for Zelda is pretty nuts to the point that most developers don't understand how it was possible to run something so complex on the Switch. But I also feel like Nintendo optimises their games like crazy, if you look at any game development documentaries on Youtube, you'll see that they optimise heavily for the hardware they have available.

fsfsxii150d ago

i hope he quits the bs of cramming minigames in his games that deter replay value and distract from the main course

shadowknight203150d ago

But everyone loves playing sub games inside of games, hell maybe he can incorporate mini games inside of mini games, he could create the next big gimmick like quick time events were

Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023

Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023.

-Mika-210d ago

Phil better have that check ready. Hideki expertise and knowledge would be a great asset to the Xbox team and can possibly bring growth in the Asia region.

VersusDMC210d ago

Phil already canceled a Kamiya game(Scalebound) so we know he doesn't have the check ready. And that check couldn't keep Shinji Mikami there either...but maybe?

CrimsonWing69210d ago

I’m still bitter about that cancellation. Even if it was in dev hell he could’ve given it to an internal studio.

Obscure_Observer210d ago

@CrimsonWing69

"I’m still bitter about that cancellation. Even if it was in dev hell he could’ve given it to an internal studio."

Are you crazy???

That would be extremely disrespectful!

Michiel1989209d ago

@obscure as if one of ms's own studios would know how to get the game out the door in a great way. Remember what happened when they did that with Duke Nukem Forever?

20nmrtnz210d ago

Tencent and Netease around the corner: Bonjour!

AdonisIsBeast209d ago (Edited 209d ago )

Was the 69 billion dollar acquisition plus 8 billion for Zenimax not enough lol?

-Foxtrot210d ago

How sudden, I wonder what changed.

Maybe after the certain story choices and direction for Bayonetta 3 they can hopefully make it more like the first two games.

justsomeoffdude210d ago

i've always felt platinum games lack of growth/failures can be traced back to kamiya. He seems like a very troublesome person to work with
