WC writes: The Pokémon phenomenon in Japan is getting ready to invade America as the first games for the Nintendo Game Boy, Pokémon Red and Blue, are about to be released. It looks to be an interesting game, based around your character finding, collecting and battling small creature called Pokémon. The Pokémon have specific move-sets, elemental based types that change battle tactics and can evolve into bigger, stronger creatures if you train them hard enough with the aim of conquering ‘gym leaders’ (essentially boss battles) and their Pokémon to gain badges up until you become ‘Pokémon League Champion’. Of course the higher-ups are expecting, or at least hoping, that the wave of popularity it has drummed up in Japan will carry over into the States. With nothing short of global domination in mind, Britain is going to be next my friends.
A lot of people have already become fans of Pokémon, but I’ve managed to play an American cartridge of Pokémon Blue and I honestly don’t foresee it becoming the massive hit many people expect. Why? A variety of reasons, which are helpfully presented in this list. Some of them are cultural differences. Some of them are missed opportunities and some of them seem to be straight up problems with the game that could affect the critical reaction and sales figures when the games get released in the UK in October of next year.
There are many worlds out there brimming with wondrous creatures ready to help you on your adventure beyond Pokemon.
Temtem is actually really good as a single player experience or as a co-op game. Played the shit out of it when it released
Even if Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have not yet completed their first anniversary, it is possible to predict exactly when Gen 10 is arriving.
The Nerd Stash: "There's been a lot of talk about Pokemon and Palworld recently, but if anything, Pokemon's new competition should be a sign to change."
Fortunately for Nintendo, the legal team is separate from Game Freak’s development team.
they do tho .. IF there is something to sue for. IP infringement is such a delicate thing.
but absolutely agree on the change
That, have longer dev time, and absolutely get rid of Nintendo as the exclusive platform. Imagine a AAA pkmn game on current consoles or next generation.
But money, they'll make billions with little effort.
Idk yall. I'd take a Pokémon jrpg over a Pokémon with guns, online play etc. Plus wasn't Pokémon mobile pretty fking big like 4 years ago then covid hit.
No they don't I don't want any of the gameplay anywhere near Pokemon the only link between them is the idea of Pokemon except there's guns you enslave humans and Pokemon and there's a survival aspect.
Pokemon is fairly family friendly can't see Nintendo going ok let's give them m16s and slaughter each other
I'm confused, is this an April Fool's article I'm only now seeing or is the title just bad?
