Wow. That makes no sense to me. Is anyone in the market for a Limited Edition HD collection of anything? There's better stuff to spend money on imo.

ftwrthtx4122d ago

Pre-ordering my Dead Island Riptide Rigor Mortis edition myself.

Not sure if I want to spend extra for this though

Murad4122d ago

Actually, if you bought the MGS LE, it was simply amazing. The artbook, and the whole thing looked fantastic, definitely worth the 10 extra I paid.

Godmars2904122d ago

Its just how they and the industry do things now.

Though most others in the industry would likely have more sense than further invest into a title which didn't do all that good. Certainly doesn't seem like Hitman fans, the ones most likely to buy something like this, were all that pleased with this entry into the series.

"The standard and limited editions of HITMAN HD: TRILOGY are scheduled for release in North America on January 29, 2013 for $39.99 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Xbox 360."

They cost the same so this is no different than what EA's been doing for a long time. Think of it as a preorder/early purchase incentive.

Are you serious? i would die for a LE edition of FFX HD, Okami, ICO and SOTC. MGS already had one, so good stuff.

banjadude4119d ago

They did this for Zone of the Enders HD, too.
THAT ONE was friggen nice!

How is Fallout 4 news an alternate source to this?

ftwrthtx4122d ago

Maybe they live in an alternate universe that somehow combines the Hitman series with the Fallout series. Might make for an interesting mash-up.

lol seems like no one even cares about this post nor SE...I KNOW I DONT HAHAHA

"Hitman 2 and Contracts are very average games that I struggled through the highs and lows"

Erm, author? just because you struggled through them doesn't mean Hitman 2 or Contracts are very average games, y'know? I know there are problems of inconsistent AI, true, but that isn't enough to make them very average games by any stretch of the imagination. They're still very good games actually. Hitman 2 for example, which is obviously the game that has aged the most, still looks OK to me for a start, and has a number of levels in a number of different countries that have never been seen ever since.

I'm glad IO released this compilation, it feels great to be able to go back to those games for me since I don't have a PS2 anymore, and the original games didn't have widescreen support anyway, or 5.1 DD surround sound (on the PS2 at least), nor did they offer the possibility to save anytime anywhere any number of times you wanted. Oh, and the original PS2 games where I live didn't even offer the english VO, so I had to import them from England (back then people in that country spoke english).
The only real downer of this compilation is that for some reason the controls were changed to using R2 button to fire instead of R1 button in the original games. Why the hell did they do that, go figure.

Hitman HD Pack Review

The Hitman HD Pack is a worthy bundle to look into for anyone interested in the older titles as well as those wanting to relive some finely crafted hits. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin still stands as a strong follow up to the original. Outside of its archaic control scheme and touchy AI, there’s still plenty to enjoy thanks to its generous amount of missions and open-ended gameplay. Hitman: Contracts provides the same strict but rewarding experience, but with many welcomed enhancements to the controls and mission structure. With Agent 47 returning in the new Hitman, this set of games is a great way to sharpen those crucial stealth skills.
