Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles Review | Hooked Gamers

Hooked Gamers write:

"Point and Click Adventure games have had somewhat of a revival in recent times. There was a time where they were shunned by publishers, and to a certain extent that is still the case. But there has been a boost in popularity and I believe there are two reasons for this. The first is Telltale Games. They have definitely been part of the rejuvenation with their episodic releases of updated favourites such as Sam & Max as well as injecting some freshness with the recent release of The Walking Dead series. Another boon for Adventure games has been Steam and the advent of direct distribution, making it simpler and much more viable for developers to promote their wares. The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles is one such Point and Click Adventure game that has benefited from the Steam platform."

'The Book Of Unwritten Tales - Critter Chronicles' Review | IGM

"The developer of any point-and-click adventure game must make a choice in the early stages of development, if they plan to focus on puzzle or plot. When a developer tries to balance which side will be stronger, they rarely succeed. Either aspect will come out stronger as the team behind the game shows their strength, or else the game is likely to come out as bland. The Book of Unwritten Tales: Critter Chronicles struggles for this sense of identity, but still manages to be a solid title. The title of the game may be familiar, as the original Book of Unwritten Tales was another point-and-click adventure from the same German studio. KING Art also developed the Murphy’s Law series of games. When it released December 5th, The Book of Unwritten Tales: Critter Chronicles had a lot to live up to." - Sam Adonis

Blogomatic - The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles Review

Blogomatic - Adventure games seem to be making quite a comeback as of late. With the help of the likes of Telltale Games and the quite frankly excellent The Walking Dead game the point and click adventures are coming back and I for one am quite happy to see them. While The Walking Dead was ruling the world and everybody was going on about how awesome it was I was trying out The Book of Unwritten Tales which was a homage to the old LucasArts games based on the SCUMM game engine.
