Video Game Journalists & Consumers – Where’s The Justice?

"Wired broke the story a couple of months ago that FIFA 13 on the Vita and Wii were pretty much the same thing as their previous year counterparts. Consumers and critics were outraged but what action of it? Or for that matter lack of action?" - FirstDropShow.com

And people stand up for developers in used games

admiralvic4122d ago

This is really a problem with circular logic and entitlement.

On one hand, a lot of people have grown cynical of what reviewers have to say. This basically means a lot of reviews will be ignored for this claim, since thats how people typically view sports games. Same game, different year. Also reviews shouldn't be fighting to change the industry by making large stands against practices they don't agree with, since thats not actually reviewing... thats editorializing. The review should simply MAKE IT CLEAR the game isn't that different and in turn give it a score that REFLECTS that it's basically a rehash, which is basically what IGN did.

On the other hand, they broke no laws. If you think you're entitled to a better game, simply don't buy the current one. It shouldn't hit the point where we're making class action suits because the game wasn't "different enough" to justify a new title. This would be a waste of the courts time, companies money (which could be used for better things) and might prompt other people to make stands they think are important. Simply not buying is a clearer message than an online petition or a vague class action suit, since the former causes them to REVALUATE their practices and update the game accordingly.

Was the old version ever on the Vita? If not then no big deal. And maybe EA just doesn't care about the Wii. Here, take the old version updated for this year and be happy. Or don't buy it. We don't care. Does anyone really buy that game on the Wii?

Yes it was, it was called FIFA Soccer.

And yes, people do buy it on the Wii.

Not all outdated football games are worthless

Games Asylum: "Outdated football games are a common sight when scouring jumble sales, car boots and charity shops for bargain price video games. Entire shelves filled with decade-old FIFA and PES games spread across a dozen formats. Often they end up in bargain bins, sitting alongside unwanted celebrity fitness DVDs and seemingly random TV show box sets. But here’s the thing. Not all football games gathering dust in the likes of Oxfam are in fact worthless."

Now Sonic Boom & Bayonetta 2 are being outsold by FIFA 13 Wii U

Just who is buying FIFA 13 on Wii U? We may never know, but there are more people buying that than there are Bayonetta 2 and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.

Sonic Boom? welp, sucks to suck.
But, Bayonetta is a real shame

wonderfulmonkeyman3426d ago

Sonic Boom is riding off the popularity of the TV show; it's a bad game.

And as for FIFA?
Well, guess that goes to show that there's a lot of older gamers on Wii U that wanted FIFA, then; sports games generally do out-sell action games, and Platinum isn't known for large sales in the first place.

I'm not worried for Bayonetta. It'll hit that 1M mark by the middle of next year, surely, at its current pace.

are seriously trying to downplay Bayonetta 2 with sales
