TopWare Interactive has announced it will publish developer Chasing Carrots’ new arcade racing videogame, Pressure, on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Pressure offers a mix of shooting and top-down racing in a colourful steampunk setting.
John Williamson from TPG writes:
"Pressure is a release which doesn't excel in any department. All in all, I would avoid this particular title due to its generic and progressively boring nature."
From the review: "Pressure provides gamers with entertaining shoot-em-up and arcade racing gameplay mechanics that are unfortunately overshadowed by repetitive level design. With the uninspired game design and lack of a real narrative, Pressure provides a mediocre experience at best."
On the face of it, Pressure looks like a frantic racer / shoot 'em up hybrid. Play through a few levels and that statement becomes only a third correct. It's not frantic, nor is it technically a racing game. While momentarily fun, this top-down car shooter never really amounts to anything more than controlling your car at moderate speeds, trying to maintain a line of sight as you (try to) blast countless hordes of enemy cars out of your way.
Oh I thought this would be... Something else. Disappointing.
