It's really a shame that Sony's Vita isn't panning out like they had hoped.

On a positive note...a hackable vita is a sellable Vita...

Mustang300C20124242d ago

The downside to a hackable Vita is no more support from 3rd party. What happen to the PSP is exactly why the Vita has had rocky support with 3rd party. IF that becomes the case then Sony needs to kill off the Vita because this is a worldwide issue now with not selling and software not selling or pushing Vitas. Add in a possible hackable Vita then it is done.

Lvl_up_gamer4242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

Well that's the thing. What is more important to Sony right now? Hardware that is selling without needing a price cut OR the lack of 3rd party support resulting in Sony having to use 1st party developers to make games....which could be pirated.

Sony will have to take the hit on something...either on hardware sales or software sales and support.

Either way....right now they are losing out on Hardware sales and if there is no hardware in the market then there won't be any 3rd party support anyways. It's a lose lose situation right now. They need to find a win somewhere and that could be in the form of a hackable handheld.

I guess everyone is waiting for the inevitable price drop of either the system or the memory cards to really grasp what the handheld is capable off.

I get in tough economic times that some are not willing to spend 250/300 on a dedicated handheld device but it does not mean that the system is not appealing to them.

If & when the price drop comes i believe the gap that the 3DS has created will shrink very fast.

What I think is weird is how everyone is downplaying just how GOOD the system is, simply because it's not selling.

Lvl_up_gamer4242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

I don't think anyone is downplaying just how good the VITA is.

The problem is people are not willing to shell out the money for it because of either:

1) Price doesn't equate to purhcase
2) Already have PSP or DS/DS3
3) Waiting for enough VITA game in the market to warrant a purchase

Just because something is "GOOD" doesn't mean people just run out and hand over their hard earned money.

I can afford a BMW X6 but I am not running out there buying one....next year I am though... :)

Maybe the sales drop of the Vita from 50k to 14k had to do with Best Buys Madden bundle with a 50 gift card. That's when I bought mine, and I have no regrets. Awesome system and it's only gonna get better. Just realized these are Japan's #'s. But I still say it increased sales in the US.

Gridloc4242d ago

I realized that after posting so I made a correction in my original post...my bad

AWBrawler4242d ago (Edited 4242d ago )

how does every Japanese sells article become a discussion of What Sony needs to do, or how Vita will POWN all? I've been noticing this trend and wasn't going to say anything becaus..... well, look at the disagree count, watch it sky rocket.

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis8h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

It's worth a play through today.

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

darthv721d 2h ago

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.
