Top 10 Games Developed By Konami

GS writes: Like many modern great video game companies, Konami got its start far away from the game development industry. Started in 1969 as a jukebox company in Japan, it only took a few years for the company to transition to manufacturing arcade cabinets rather than jukeboxes. From there, the company took off relatively quickly, moving from developing their first arcade game in 1978 to developing their first computer games only for years later. Konami survived the video game crash of the early 1980s due in large part to its focus on its Japanese market; when Nintendo saved the industry, Konami was ready and waiting to develop for Nintendo’s new Famicom system, later released in the United States as the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was on this console that the company made a name for itself, releasing such now-famous titles as Metal Gear, Contra, Gradius, and Castlevania. That was only the beginning for Konami, though, as the company would go on to develop dozens and dozens of other hit games over the next couple of decades. Of all the game development companies active today, perhaps none have developed as many hit games as Konami, and indeed, Konami is the largest company I will be discussing in this list series as other companies — such as Nintendo, Sega, and Vivendi — are better analyzed through their individual subsidiaries’ game libraries. Due to Konami’s size, I will be restricting items on this list to one game per series.

technically metal gear is develop by Kojima Productions and published by Konami

JonahNL4266d ago

Kojima Productions is actually a subsidiary of Konami...

Once again, super nerdy gamers have to argue semantics, the most pointless argument of all, and go on and on about developer vs publisher, and who is a developer and who is a publisher, and get completely off topic, wasting everyone's time.

Yes, Konami is a publisher, and yes, it pays developers to develop games, and its function is to finance, market and distribute the game.

Now that we have that cleared up - every Metal Gear ever made, plus Zone of the Enders 2. Nuff said.

Kojima Productions didn't exist until 2005. So, you know...

developed? Konami? seriously?

ZBlacktt4266d ago

No surpise here at all....

It would honestly seem very easy to make a list of games developed under Konami. Especially when all those games are fairly well known, and mostly excellent games.

The 7 Best Vampire Games: Embrace the Night

Vampire games are making a comeback of late, and gamers hoping this is a new trend should look back at the 7 best vampire games ever made.

SimpleSlave18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

What is a list? A miserable little pile of scribbles.

A Best Vampire Game list and no Bloodborne. A bold choice, indeed.

The_Hooligan18d ago

IMO, I wouldn't consider bloodborne a vampire game. Long story short, It's more about the side effects of the blood experiment and the influence of the red moon, than actually being a vampire.

SimpleSlave18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes, Bloodborne is about Vampires. It's not just the undertones, or the imagery or the obvious parallels, it's pretty much everything and then some. Here's the thing, Bram Stoker's Dracula is also not a Vampire novel. Why? Because technically Vampires from folklore were something else.

But based on our updated view of what Vampires are, informed in one way or another by Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu The Vamprye, and many other stories, and combined with From Software's own interpretation, we can say with confidence that Bloodborne IS a Vampire story. Sure, there are other elements, but the central narrative is pretty much Vampires. Which would make it THE Vampire game. I mean, Cainhurst Castle. Anyways, that's how I see it.

But to each their and we'll agree to disagree.

Thats the best Vampire game ever, but enough talk, have at you!.

Absolutely... Now, die monster! You don't belong in this thread!

I've lost all hype for Bloodlines 2. It's going to be an action game.

Barlos18d ago

No Blood Omen? Even today it's one of my favourite vampire games. We could really do with a release on modern platforms.

I really enjoyed Vampyr. The combat is a little clunky and could use some work. However, the story, characters, dialog. setting, and pretty much everything else in the game is great.
