Critical Gamer's Luke K writes: Shigeru Miyamoto has been known as a cuddly developing genius worldwide since the only way we got our gaming news and reviews was via shop shelf magazines. Due to the explosion in indie games journalism and social media over the last ten years or so however, we are now all able – for better or for worse – to take a close look at many, many more of the people making the games that we play. This often leads to pleasant surprises, as we find that some developers are much more like us than we suspected; that not only do they make great games, they seem to be exactly the sort of people we’d like to talk to between gaming sessions; maybe – shock, horror – about something other than videogames. Inevitably though, some devs appear (to some of us, at least) to be arrogant and self-important. We only see this because they’re thrust into the spotlight so often… because they’re working on some of the biggest games out there.
I’ve already covered the Mass Effect 3 debacle in part one though I will, as a final note on the matter, comment on one aspect of Dr. Ray Muzyka’s initial response to criticism of the Mass Effect 3 endings which irked me greatly. After acknowledging that “some” people aren’t happy with the endings, he goes on to say: “However, most folks appear to agree that the game as a whole is exceptional, with more than 75 critics giving it a perfect review score and a review average in the mid-90s”. Perhaps I don’t understand the term well enough, but this assertion seems somewhat at odds with the “humility” Muzyka promises in the first paragraph.
Earlier this year, BioWare was hit with layoffs as part of a downsizing of parent company Electronic Arts, but fans have been reassured that the next Mass Effect game hasn’t been impacted. Likewise, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s development is still churning along, with BioWare putting it at the forefront of its focus and rumors suggesting that it could launch sometime later this year. Fans might be getting another look at the long-in-development Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at the Summer Game Fest in June.
If the recently posted job offering for a temporary development manager is any indication, BioWare could have yet another surprise up its sleeve for when Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf are nearing completion. This mystery BioWare video game could truly be anything, from another spin-off of its two major properties to something entirely new. All there is to go on at the moment is a vague mention in the job posting, and it might still be some time before BioWare is ready to confirm any new games in its pipeline.
So a studio that spent years on anthem then this dragon age thing is now also working on another ip along with mass effect,
You think they would be worried that there brand has been on 3 major screw ups
Dragon age 3 launched broken with the frostbite engine yes its a good game but you can see in the late game how rough it was
anthem......
Mass effect 4 well that dev team was fired so yeah.....
They should make sure this new dragon age is a goat instead of putting more work on the table
How about they focus on those games and not over extend themselves? We don't need another Anthem.
Bioware died after Inquisition (some would even argue after ME3). They are no longer the same company.

During a recent Game Rant interview, Gears of War creator CliffyB comments on Xbox-exclusive games possibly adopting multiplatform models.
Sometimes I don't get what he says half the times. He could of put gears on the playstation from the start but he's fanboyness for xbox got in the way
Well when you look at the sales perspective of ps5. It has a big audience selling over a 2 to 1 ratio. It makes money sense.
Fanboy era was at its prime during the ps3-360 generation. It’s not as toxic as it once was, thankfully. People grow out of it eventually. I have my preference just as the next person. That being said it’s coming to be more about expanding availability instead of standing behind a brand. Much more Microsoft than Sony. But Sony will probably move up its time of PC release for increase revenue.
We will see, it’s just speculation.
CliffyB is like David Jaffe at this point, always quick with the opinions but haven’t made a successful game in over a decade at this point. Do any of us really care what they think about anything? I certainly don’t.
Epic's devolution with DLC over the course of the Gears series is amusing. Fighting against Microsoft for the ability to release free maps for Gears 1. On-disc locked DLC and season passes for Gears 3.
