Jumping the Sharkticon: Cancel or Reboot Marvel Ultimate Alliance?

GameDynamo - "Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed playing both Alliance games -- on some level they were fun. Like on some level, the X-Men movies were tolerable, but in the end were they really the X-Men? I argue no, just like the heroes in the Alliance games weren’t really the ones I read about avidly as a child."

the first one was great, it had a good comic event like story, but the second was a letdown, the plot was trying to hard to tie into Civil War.

Yeah - I agree. Loved the first one, but the second one just bored the piss out of me. I never even bothered finishing it.

There really haven't been any of this type of top down, co-op rpg type games this gen, and I miss them. Last gen had Champions of Norrath, Baldur's Gate, that Justice League game and, of course, Marvel. A bunch of them were from Snowblind studios who haven't done anything this gen yet. I'm looking forward to their LOTR game coming up.

Yeah I know what u mean the game I'm really waiting for it Marvel MMO now that games gonna be the pinnacle of all MUA put together.

The first game was awesome because Raven software made it, the awesome dev behind Singularity, Wolverine and Wolfenstein.

The second game was not as great because it wasnt made by them. I say make a sequel or reboot, so long as Raven Softeare is behind it again

Cancel . I'll get disagrees but never found them truly worthy of the franchise . I'd very happy with every actision and sega rights to Marvel property expiring .

I falways found the Xmen/MU to be quite average , their saving grace being the amount of playable characters

making proper games for the heroes individually. Putting them all in the game doesn't allow them each to shine, especially since you have big names in there like theX-Men, Spiderman, Cap, Daredevil etc...

I really want a spiderman game that follows the story of the Ultimate spiderman comic. Lots of plot to cover, making it a very long game.

I disagree with the article, his propositions would make the game really dull and when we are talking about heroes like hulk and thor if given their actual skills and invulnerabilities the game would have no challenge whatsoever and their battle experience doesnt have anything to do with game mechanics and having different "starting levels" its franckly a bad idea and quite pointless considering the game allows you a "New game+". Finally mnaking it a turn based game would slow the gameplay too much and break the inmersion of superheroes battling it out.

My take to improve the franchise would be to reduce the number of playable characters so as to spend more resources and time on each providing better suited skills and overall more usefull powers and coop attacks which can be more contextual based.

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff21835h ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh4h ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia4h ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

jukins5h ago

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

The first game was the best imo.
