Bungie Answers Your Destiny Questions – IGN

Ryan McCaffreyNaturally, Destiny's big new world elicits a lot of questions. As does Bungie's new approach to first-person shooters in general. We thought we'd help get some answers, so we solicited your questions and sent them Bungie's way. Bungie's Eric "urk" Osborne was kind enough to answer them.

I would really like to be able to talk to my enemies, I like to hear their sounds of despair as I crush them.

Jacktrauma3548d ago

Really cool of them to do this for the community. I know there was a lot of questions people had and a majority of them didn't expect this at all.

UltraNova3548d ago

Yes but the could have given an estimated on the time it takes to complete the campaign...say 8-10 they dodged it.

Also will the campaign be playable offline? I mean totally of the internet like any traditional SP game?

A straight answer would be much appreciated!

patsrule3163548d ago

I believe the answer to that is no. You must be connected to their servers to play any part of Destiny.

n4rc3548d ago

I'm starting to wonder about how much they are hiding..

One disappointment I had was being able to actually travel between worlds yourself.. Or lack thereof

But didn't you select a ship in the beta? Why even bother if your ship is mearly a loading screen?

Part of me was put off by the beta.. But I'm trying to give bungie the benefit of the doubt here

Pinkdolphinyfg3548d ago

Bungie has been a bit misleading imo. For one the E3 Demo sure made it seem like you could go and explore those mountains in the distance and that the game was going to be a "massive universe" when it turns out theres only one area per planet and the distance you see that i thought was going to be explorable isn't interactible and blocked off by invisible walls. Really thought the game was going to be alot bigger conisdering it was Bungie themselves who hyped the planets up to be "the size of Halo Reach" that couldn't be anymore untrue Bungie.

Shadonic3548d ago

I agree on the first part but on the second part the person quickly moved in to correct what was being spread around like with a lot of articles there's always some misinformation floating around. I believed that it was going to be huge as well in general I thought that we wee only going to be visiting earth only honestly back then until a bit later on as i researched the game and what not and from then on once i realized it wasn't like i thought it was from the E3 reveal I quickly moved on with my gaming life and played it for what it was a really great game.

I wonder size wise what would be acceptable to people ? They say they want big but how big, they spout out making some procedural generated stuff or making more of the area ( that we haven't even fully traversed yet) as if that's like doing the basic programming of the Hello world practice.

Shadonic3548d ago

To show off and to have a bit more personalization all in all just to fit into the showing off your achivements sort of thing with your gear and not your level.

It would be awesome if you were able to unlock the MJOLNIR Mark VI armour from Halo.

blackstrr4113548d ago

It has to be an exclusive Xbox dlc content

Benchm4rk3548d ago

Agreed. I dont see how it couldn't be. Also probably only available in the Titan class

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter322d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood322d ago (Edited 322d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro322d ago (Edited 322d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881322d ago (Edited 322d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell322d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig322d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast322d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername322d ago (Edited 322d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g322d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka322d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai473d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface472d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard470d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
