Speaking with IGN, Ubisoft North America president Laurent Detoc revealed the secret origins of the new IP.
“Watch Dogs wasn’t started as Watch Dogs. They were working on a driving engine, working on something. We had the Driver license. This was years ago. Then we were thinking, ‘no, this is not the way we want to go with a driving game,’ so we cancelled that and restarted,” he said.

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.

I'm not that interested in many 3rd party games on the next gen consoles at the moment but this one I am and looking forward to getting it. I hope we see a new driver again this gen though loved the driver games.
The last driver was great from a gameplay stand point. An the premise of the story was pretty interesting. Which reminds me, I need to finish that game.
