5 Things We Want From Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Gary A Swaby of TheKoalition.com writes: While Hideo Kojima and his production team are busy working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain we have The Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection to look forward to. The legacy collection is ideal for those who either wish to experience Metal Gear Solid from its roots to its current state or those who are simply just huge fans of the series and wish to own it all in one collection.

Once you own the legacy collection, the only thing left is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. We're still a long way away from owning the game, and we still don't even know all there is to know about it. As someone who holds the Metal Gear Solid series in high regard I decided to compile a list of some things I would like to see in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phatnom Pain. Be sure to leave a comment with some of your own suggestions.

Disappointed that portable ops isn't part of the collection. It plays a big role as a prologue to peace walker

Also, the majority of people did not hate MGO, people just hated konami ID, that was the biggest barrier from allowing you to play MGO. I personally had a blast playing MGO on mgs4.

Best mp experience this gen .

Donnieboi3943d ago

^ This. Loved MGO to death!

trenso13943d ago

Definitely steep learning curve made it very rewarding for people who took the time to master the game, people who were looking for an easy time didn't find one not even in the johnny servers. They should bring it back just more refined

Firan3943d ago

MGO is one of the best online MP games I've ever played. Yes Konami ID was a pain and dedicated servers would have helped as well but otherwise it was awesome.

@a_bro: THANK YOU! I don't know why Kojima (and the writer of this article) thinks that westerners hated MGO. We loved it. We don't need another COD-clone. It was just their crappy servers, it's ability to be easily hacked (and often WAS hacked) plus the Konami ID's which if forgotten, would lock your PS3 out of being able to play the game, forever (even if you tried on a different PSN i.d.) that ruined MGO.

Leave the "steep" learning curve alone! Making MGO more accessible is like making Dark Souls more accessible--old fans will hate it, and new fans will just find it too simple and common to most other games, making it easily forgettable.

What was your mgo name? Trying to find mgo buddies i lost contact with

SwiffEpics3943d ago

I'm glad you guys seemed to like MGO and I'm apologize if what I wrote about it doesn't fall in line with your own opinion. I'm just going off of the feedback I received myself. I'm not speaking for everybody, just the majority of people I spoke to.

PSN_ZeroOnyx3943d ago

I hated the fact they avoided PSN which P2P resulted in ridiculously long download times. It took HOURS to download it and I refused to update after that.

CrossingEden3943d ago

i want less anime dialogue and characters, give me that, and i'll be so content with this game, and from what i've seen it seems that they really aren't doing an anime feel, which is definitely a plus in my book

Release Metal Gear Online as a FTP with dedicated servers on both the PS4 and XBO a few months before The Phantom Pain releases. Keep it going with constant paid DLC and updates throughout the generation to keep players thinking about the series.

AND not shutdown after just 4 years.

JunioRS1013943d ago

This is not an attack on Xbox One fans.

But seriously, this needed to be a PS4 exclusive and it is not...

This and KH3! Whyyyyy is the world so cruel sometimes??

CrossingEden3943d ago

if metal gear can be put on a nintendo system then it can also be put on a microsoft system, grow up, seriously, grow up and stop whining because you can't say "haha, we have this game on our console, haha"

JunioRS1013943d ago

The MGS series was primarily popular on PS systems, that was my point.

"Grow up" ? I specifically said this was not an attack on Xbox One fans

Since The Contra Revival Shows Konami Still Cares, How About A New Castlevania?

Hanzala from eXputer: "Contra: Operation Galuga is a classic revival done right, but why hasn't Konami done the same yet for the bigger and more popular Castlevania?"

shinoff218321d ago

Slowdown. Let them get these suikoden games done first. Alot of us are still waiting for those

XiNatsuDragnel20d ago

Castlevania fighting game for wii needs to be remade plz

Aphrodia20d ago

well, the new C ontra was made by Wayforward, who have been taking sooooo many of these classic franchises and making new iterations of them. Imo they aren't very good at it. And I don't see operation galuga being a large enough success to possibly give them Castlevania.

It’s almost like Metal Gear is a well known franchise

Horrible news more proof todays "gamer" is just a cow ready to be milked.

That mgs collection is no better than my ps3 copy but my ps3 copy has 0 server restrictions i always roll my eyes when reviewers or these new "youtube gamer" channels show off the information books on a webpage via a trash in game browser or the lack of controller support like it s a good thing.

Also GOG still has a better version mgs 1 or use the duck ps1 emulator.

Well time for the peace walker remaster pc port 480p 20fps needs a rtx 3090 or 6900xt to run with dunovo konami account then a govt id check.

just_looken77d ago (Edited 77d ago )

All the bonus content on the new collection needs a konami server to load them up if you pull your lan cord only the games will work but that is temp as those games are digital goods.

When i said digital i know there is a disc version games are on the disc i was referring to the pc version and the patches after the fact but yes ps5 has a disc version.

As long as it's not like Twin Snakes. And I hope they have the option to keep the original PSone voice tracks, which is a huge part of the appeal for me. The Twin Snakes voice tracks sounded worse, and had lame script changes as well.

Babadook7106d ago

Of Course. Go straight to the near perfect source.

porkChop105d ago

It's likely going to be handled just like Delta.

just_looken105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

Its probably like resident evil 2 remake.

for those that do not know fans remade that game until the garage scene but then was shutdown by capcom a few years later bam RE2 hd remaster.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

In 2016 fans used unreal engine up until the raven fight it was a full hd remaster square shut it down took everything so why not use there work.
