Skyrim's next title update effectively removes the game's level cap

“The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s” 1.9 title update is now in beta testing on Steam and the developer hopes to have the game update live on consoles later this month. Title update 1.9 for “Skyrim” adds a new Legendary difficulty setting to the game as well as the ability to turn skills which players reach 100 point in to be turned into Legendary Skills. This process resets the skills current level to 15 and allow gamers to level up the skill again, thus getting as many perk points as they desire from re-leveling Legendary Skills and giving the game the possibility of an endless level cap.

Yay! More level scaling for my repetitive Dragons

Edit---

Yes it does Derek. The first few are good...After that they become an annoyance that follow you around shooting fire at you until you pay them enough attention to bother killing them. They hold no challenge...and just get repetitive

No I have it on PC greenpowers

It only happens with 'level scaling'. It didn't happen with New Vegas, nor with Dark Souls...nor with Much other games. Just games that scale enemies.

There are many problems with this game that make dragons repetitive too.

First being, the combat sucks.
Second being, the level scaling ruins it.
Third being, Dragons are all almost identical when fighting them.
Fourth - Fighting normal enemies may as well be fighting Humans. No variation

Fallout 3 >>> Skyrim. New Vegas >>>>> Skyrim

Generally you'll find that both Fallout fans and Elder scrolls fans like Fallout more than Skyrim

Does killing dragons get repetitive in this game? I never played it

Root4061d ago (Edited 4061d ago )

Yes...and it gets very annoying later on when you've done it a lot and your busy with something but a Dragon appears out of nowhere over making you have to kill it....then if it really wants to tick you off it doesn't bloody land.

Strejc4060d ago

It's especially bad when your character does nothing but punch things to death. Wait for dragon to land, get mad because dragon lands on house, avoid fire, finally get to punch, punch, punch, wash, rinse, repeat.

Donnieboi4060d ago

Demon's/Dark Souls is so much better.

Didn't buy it yet because of the ps3 bugs but after this patch maybe, I know it's worth it. Loved fallout

contradictory4060d ago

there's not that many bugs in it anymore dude
i only had one glitch the entire game which is
great considering who made this game

Elwenil4060d ago

Agreed. I bought it right before the DLC for PS3 came out and have about 100 hours in it now with very few issues. Some minor bugs that go away when reloading the area and a couple dialogs that made no sense but not bad overall. The most annoying thing is when it locks the PS3 up, almost always on a loading screen but it's maybe once every few hours and I use those times to take a break anyway. Still not happy about how Bethesda handled this game on the PS3 but it seems that a lot of the problems are solved and it's rare to get a game for $50 that has this much game time so it's sort of worth it. Your mileage may vary.

I'm sorry but this site is getting ridiculous with people making generalizations with no data to back it up. Just because you like Fallout more than Elder Scrolls it does not mean everyone "generally" agrees. I've noticed this is becoming even more prevalent in any next gen article.

Seriously, almost every comment I read on this site that is trying to be smart does this. Just so you know, message boards are the minority. If we were the majority then Call of Duty would not be as successful as it is.

Disagree all you want though since everyone on this site are statisticians and analysts...

MadLad4060d ago

While I thought that Skyrim was an improvement over Oblivion, it is still very, very weak.

Static
Generic
Buggy
Unbalanced
. . . game of the year . . . apparently.

Campy da Camper4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

I, myself prefered Oblivion more. Sure graphics not as good but man it had great missions! I would just run around for hours getting lost in stuff. Then there was that day I tried to kill everyone in Imperial City lol.

No quest I have ever done in any RPG topped the thieves guild quest. The grey fox mask was my most prized possession.

Capital!

Emzx994060d ago

Skyrim was loads better than Fallout 3. Most people take away from their Skyrim experience by doing some in game abuse to level up, and later bitch about length. When really a majority of people who played that game haven't even gone through 10% of it. People gave up way to quick, and counted on this games negatives, rather then it's plentiful positives.

Campy da Camper4060d ago

No, backwards flying dragons and constant freeze ups really ruined the game for me. Plus I got all the way to the end and accidently hit that one dragon before he talked on the mountain so he wouldn't do his thing. I went to marker and couldn't advance. I went to reload prior save and it corrupted. That did it. Stuck near end and couldn't advance.

I'm not a whining Susan and really givegames a chance but enough is enough. Bethesda simply did a piss poor job on the ps3 version.

Tr10wn4060d ago

You said that like Skyrim was bad and it fail to deliver, Skyrim sold 14 million copies in a generation ruled by Multiplayer games it has a 96 metacritic is one of the most played games on Steam and all that come to no surprise to me at least i have over 150 hours in the 360 version and over 200 hours in the PC and still havent seen all the dungeons or finish all the side quest, i don't see anything wrong with the game and the people who criticize the game are less than 1% so their opinion doesn't really matter out side their forums/sites.

MestreRothN4G4060d ago

It is bizarre how much time gamers needed until they finally accepted/realized this.

Well, people still buy/compliment AC 3, so I guess we really deserve all the garbage the industry is throwing at us.

Tr10wn4060d ago

Combat sucks, ill tell you what my friends told me about Skyrim combat system which make sense, basically put a lock on the enemy and put some kind of move assist so your character move towards the enemy when you attack and done you got the greatest combat system in the world... wait that is exactly what games like Dark Souls, The Witcher 2 and pretty much ever hack and slash game out there uses... yes they could do better like a dodge for example would be nice and probably smoother animation i don't want a hack and slash feeling that Dark Souls give me or the way over animated moves of the Witcher 2 i want Skyrim to feel like Skyrim an TES game same thing goes to Fallout i don't want it to feel like CoD or BF in want it to feel like Fallout, i personally find Skyrim more enjoyable than Fallout but then again i don't care for little things like lvl scaling or combat systems.

TheSaint4060d ago

Just use bend will to calm the dragon. It's not that repetitive.

Kinger89384060d ago

Completely agree, i cant play this game due to the combat and other stuff

Nifty, might go back and play some Skyrim once this patch is out.

Time to polish that health +4000 ring off again... One ring to rule them all....

N0S3LFESTEEM4060d ago

I played 90 hours without even talking to the greybeards :|... I was a lvl 46 without even knowing Fus Ro Dah now I'm on a fresh start because I corrupted my save. I've yet to finish this game... same with oblivion.

baldulf4060d ago

I wonder if a new DLC would follow soon.

baraka0074060d ago

hope so my horse needs a make over ;)

FarCryLover1824060d ago

Time to whip out that one book that let you rank up infinitely.

Tetsujin4060d ago (Edited 4060d ago )

I'll admit I have one game save dedicated to that, and one that isn't (just incase).

I wish you can do the same with weapons outside having to use potions and certain types of enhancing armor.

Edit: This is straight from the article

"Placing an unread Oghma Infinium on a bookshelf in the player’s house no longer allows the book to be reused again"

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast10d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22910d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko10d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave11d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan11d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
