Under Defeat HD – Review [GamingLives]

GamingLives looks at the HD remake of Under Defeat.

"Under Defeat HD is a port of a little-known (outside of shoot ‘em up communities) vertically-scrolly shooter that previously emerged on the Sega Dreamcast, right at the end of the console’s commercial lifespan (it was originally a coin-op too). It wasn’t available over here but it gained some cult status anyway, mainly thanks to the fact that Dreamcast games were so easy to pirate, you’d think they were Somalian and was one of a late tranche of shooters that found a home on the doomed console (the most famous of which was the clever-but-dull Ikaragu)."

No one needs to see a review score like this for a SHMUP when there haven't been that many this gen - damnit!

Under Defeat HD Deluxe Edition (Xbox 360, PS3) Game Review on Popzara

It’s pretty, it sounds good and it’s exactly what it claims to be and not much more; consider Akai Katana instead.

$6 is a steal for Deadly Premonition, even if it is a sub standard port of the 360 game. Pick it up, you'll be entertained one way or the other.

The PS3 version of Deadly Premonition:Director's Cut is an enhanced expanded port from the original 360 version. The original 360 version was roundly panned for it's terrible controls, graphics, dialog was called the worst game ever by some. Some found it fun like watching a really bad B-Movie. The PS3 version fixes it's many glitches and it runs and controls better with a DS3 and the newly included PS Move controls. At $6 it's certainly worth a buy and you'll get a some laughs from this and is the Definitive version.

ZTGD | Under Defeat HD (360) Review

Drew Leachman writes: I’ve played my fair share of side/up scrolling shooters. Granted, I have never been very good at them, but I do enjoy them from time to time. The “bullet hell” genre is a bit of a different monster in the grand scheme of shoot ‘em ups, where maneuvering takes precedence over pinpoint shooting. Under Defeat HD is one of those games.
