2012 might as well be named “the year of the sports revolution” in gaming. There were a number of improvements for each game (Madden 13, FIFA 13, NBA 2K13, NHL 13) that made a world of difference.

EA and competition in sports games don't belong in the same sentence. They've had healthy competition in many different sports genres and the ones they could, they monopolised the licenses to effectively kill the competition. Poor Konami in PES were feeding off of scraps with their CL license.. EA went and bought that too. With them, there is no such thing as healthy competition.

I don't know about that, Nba live was the basketball game to get until Nba live 07 came out.
If you look at Metacritic NBA2K games have constantly outdone NBA Live. And a lot forget how much of a jump the original NBA2K was as it was only on the Sega Dreamcast which many gamers ignored due to pure ignorance and lack of knowledge on just how great that console was.
The last good ones were Live 04 n 05 for ps2 era n Live 06 last gen

Stupid article. Music in games should be recognized for their impact like the crossing into Mexico in RDR. Not just tunes on the disc
are you kidding, it was more of the same PLUS the visuals got serious downgrades imo, this year sucked for sports gaming, that's just my opinion..
Yea, I've played madden 13 & nba 2k13, then sold them back within a months time. Both were trash compared to the versions that came out two years back imo.
* Fifa 13 is a damn good game.
Madden & NCAA = jokes
* I've heard NBA 2k13 was decently legit. But it's still a Basketball game
* MLB 2k12 was good but there might not be any more.
* NHL13 - I've heard/read it's pretty much the same. NHL 12 was good but it gets boring fast unless playing online.
