Hands On With Wonderbook: Book of Spells (MasonicGamer.com)

MasonicGamer.com - It was clear from the time I spent with it, as well as from discussion with the Sony representative, that this is definitely a kids title. This will be obvious to many, but Potter fans may be hoping that there’s enough substance to keep adult gamers occupied. Unfortunately, this is less of a game and more of an interactive experience, with the book coming to life in front of you and a minimal amount of story holding it together.

The real draw is the augmented reality aspect, and Book of Spells pulls this off really well. The book is beautifully displayed on screen and can be moved around in real time. Not once did the camera lose sight of it or need time to catch up, and this was also true of the wand I held. The PlayStation Move controller never showed on screen, and although everything was a little slowed down, it really gave the impression of holding a wand above a magical, 3-dimensional book.

I reckon a few teenagers will like this too. I can see it shifting a consoles, but even if it doesn't, out of the 66 million PS3 owners, I'm sure there's some keen Harry Potter fans who will buy it for their kids just so they can play it themselves.

Oh yeah, I can totally see parents sitting down to play this when the kids aren't around, but I can't imagine too many picking it up just for themselves. However, with no more Potter books on the way, the exclusive backstory elements - while minimal - may be enough to entice some childless fans to check it out.

I wish Sony would release a higher quality eyetoy.
Should not be too hard to do.

Walking With Dinosaurs!
Finally!

Wasn't there supposed to also be a Muppets one as well as some other Disney stuff?

ChazzH693844d ago

When I contacted PR, they could only say "We haven’t announced any additional Wonderbook products at this time." Which isn't saying there aren't any more, they just haven't announced any! We can only hope.

PSLS’ Morning Wood Episode 005: Wood in 3D (Glasses)

Welcome to episode five of Morning Wood. This week Chandler talks about pitching tents to have a symbiotic relationship with his fellow writers, throwing down the beat and making it rain, and his own controversial opinion on Disney’s shuttering of LucasArts. The background is also royal purple in honor of a game that I recently picked up from another shuttered publisher. Watch the video below.

Sony’s Unsung Hero: The PS Move

The PS Move is one of those accessories that didn’t really cause ripples this generation. The Move just didn't have the attach rate or the support from Sony that the Kinect has from Microsoft. The PS Move is still a great accessory to own and can be loads of fun with the right games. Right now is the perfect time to purchase one as the price is continuing to drop and GoozerNation has several suggestions for must have Move Bundles and games.

Eh..I wouldn't recommend Move to anyone unless they found a REALLY good deal on it. Haven't used mine since last summer. The potential is there, but its not being taken advantage of.

I can recommend the move to anyone who likes dancing, has a girlfriend or a social life. Dance star party is great and actualy taught me to dance and made me very fit. Be prepared to sweat buckets though.
