Geekscape Games Geek Peek Review: 'The Expendables 2: The Video Game'

Andy writes - "Why oh why do we have to endure games such as these? Yes, movie tie-in games are down right TERRIBLE for the most part. Still, marketing departments think any publicity is good publicity. That said, Expendables 2: The Video Game is another “must avoid” game."

Why does it have to be so damn hard to make an arcade shooter like Commando and Ikari Warriors?

An isometric or top-down shooter should be easy as hell to make these days from developers.

Expendables 2 Videogame Review (PopBucket)

Once in blue moon, a game based on a major Hollywood film franchise can impress and even astound cynics of the movie tie-in movement. Does the Expendables 2 Videogame fall into this honored category? Nope. Not even close. And here's why...

I had my doubts about playing this. Thanks for the heads up and posting this! :-)

While they may be on point here, you should never take a single review as proof a game is bad.

Name any game out there that you think is awesome and I can find one review out there that calls it complete crap and rates it low.

Of course movie games are usually bad but a single review for any game is not proof of being good or bad.

Who Won the Summer: PSN Play or Summer of Arcade?

GamerFitNation: This summer we have had several online releases, mostly through PSN Play and the Summer of Arcade for Xbox Live Arcade. Both of these events had some good games and were a great buy for the players who picked up the titles. However, while both systems had good games, The Summer of Arcade was the better event simply because it had more high quality games that came out exclusively for the Xbox.

He chose XBL Summer Arcade over PSN play, I can see it. Not only are the promotions over but MS hinted at more games to come after, Mark Of the Ninja, State Of decay and Happy Wars.

I will say MS has been very consistent in the download space this year so far.

NewMonday4260d ago

this "Summer of Arcade" is the worst for a number of years, no great classic games like Limbo, Bastion or Trials .

but PSN has 2 great games this summer Papo&Yo and Sound Shapes, so they had better to offer this year

"no great classic games like Limbo, Bastion or Trials"

That is your opinion because Dust: an Elysian Tail to me is Epic.

NewMonday4260d ago

true Dust: an Elysian Tail is good, but still not like the others

ItsTrue4260d ago

So why do we need to know who won?

knifefight4260d ago

So that we can all flock to what everyone else thinks is cool!

I gave up thinking for myself a long time ago. Waaaaay too high maintenance. Now, I just see what the most popular opinion is and choose that. That way, I'll always fit in and never be the oddball. I buy whatever has the most sales and like whatever team "won".
----------------------------- --------------------

Now that the sarcasm is over, can I say that these "(___company____) won (____event/time period_____)" are incredibly stupid?

r214260d ago

So fanboys can rejoice that their favorite company beat the other :L

Both have their own goods and bads.

Hicken4260d ago

... so he says four games versus two games, but he counts Tony Hawk for the 360 even though it will be on both platforms. That would have been fine, but he disqualified Expendables 2 from the PS Play side of things for the same reason.

Parappa4260d ago

Neither. In order to win you would have to have something worth playing first.

In-depth Review: The Expendables 2 Videogame - Electronic Theatre

For such a thinly veiled excuse for action and heroics, The Expendables 2 Videogame is actually rather smart in its positioning. Padding out the story between the two motion-picture productions, The Expendables 2 Videogame avoids the route taken by so many videogame adaptations and doesn’t spoil the film. In fact, it will only serve to build anticipation in those already keen to see it, reacquainting fans with those familiar faces and stopping just before The Expendables 2 begins. This is smart delivery for a franchise that is anything but.
