Ni No Kuni Leads the JRPG Charge

IGN:

Japanese developer Level-5 has been responsible for some shining examples of quintessential JRPGs, over the years. From PS2 gems in the Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy franchises through to its iconic Dragon Quest series, much of Level-5’s output has been characterised by a focus on young protagonists who embark on fantastical journeys of self-discovery rendered in the studio’s distinctive cel-shaded visual style. (Akihiro Hino, JRPG, Keiji Inafune, Level-5, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Phil Fish, PS3, Studio Ghibli)

Release it already this is the kind of game I w8 to play for more than 6 years now after JRPG genre turn to sh1t with the new generation of consoles, traditional turn-based JRPG with world map, awesome story & unlimited exploration options r non-existent anymore, this game is DAY1 for any old-school JRPG fan out there!

JRPGs used to be every bit of high-end as other genres, taking advantage of next-gen console's strengths to the max. We simply haven't seen this much this gen, so I agree with Cloud. I didn't want to have to go to handhelds and imports for this JRPG experience. I wanted an abundance of games that took advantage of my HD, Blu Ray PS3 and I haven't gotten many of those from Japan. I don't want shinier PS2 games.

You sure love to assume. WTF is wrong with having to have good graphics for a JRPG. I mean if you buy a next gen console you would want next gen graphics. You seriously must be new to gaming or delusional.

I wish Sony had invested in an JRPG this gen that truly took advantage of what a PS3 is. Closest I've seen is White Knight Chronicles, Valkyrie Chronicles and Demon Souls. I only truly enjoyed Valkyrie Chronicles, and that isn't even a true JRPG.

you are having laugh, you must be like 12 and just started playing rpgs this gen if you think this, because no rpg game comes close to ps2 rpg era of games, but you are entitled to your OPINION even if it is wrong
