Silicon Knights' Dyack Joins Jaffe's "One-Console" Chorus

G4 The Feed, Monday, January 14, 2008:

Last week, God of War creator David Jaffe created some internet waves by posting that gaming would be vastly improved if there was only one console. Today, Silicon Knights founder Denis Dyack told G4 he couldn't agree more.

"David Jaffe and I are on the same page," Dyack said. "A single open-standard for video game consoles would be good for games, gamers, developers and publishers. Competition would increase, game prices would go down, quality of games would rise, and finally, gaming demographics would increase substantially."

I bet Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft thinks there song sucks.

Furthermore,Micro$oft will NEVER have the same RESPECT companies such as SONY,SEGA,and NINTENDO,have gained in the gaming industry. There's no room for a company that has produced nothing but FAILURES and has NEVER made a PROFIT on it's video game consoles.

When you think about it,it must be quite sad being an Xbot. The best game they have consists of a Green soldier with a Machine Gun.Don't you just feel sorry for them?

It will be a sad day if such a system was forced on us. Without competition the gaming industry will be monotonous and repetitive. Oh wait, it seems to be that way now with every other game being an FPS.

If anyone reading this is disappointed with the current variety of games then one can imagine how agonizing it would be if one console was all we had.

As genuine as their sentiments are, multiple consoles has gotten us to the point where we are today and I feel the positives outweigh the negatives.

the bad is that with no competition, you wouldnt have someone trying to outdo there competitor, for example, HOME would have never been if it wasnt for live.

or prices would stay very high.

but GAMES would certainly be good considering they could take advantage of the hardware specifics.

The other problem with this is the fact that you will only have 1 specific console to develop for. I am sure exclusive games are much better than than are because they were developed for that particular console strengths so perhaps this is not a good idea. But then again these two fellas knows alot more about the industry than I.
