If "I" Ran Nintendo, This is How E3 2012 Would Go Down

E3 2012 is right around the corner. This time of year feels like Christmas time for gamers and E3 2012 will not disappoint. Nintendo is set to pull the curtain off their forthcoming Wii U console and the gaming public will finally get a chance to see what the big N has been working on for the last number of years.

If I was put in charge of Nintendo’s E3 2012 press conference, this how it would go down.

I get the feeling the writer of this article is unfamiliar with game development or at least has not kept up with the current events for Nintendo. Sakurai only started working on Smash Bros. a month or two ago; there's no way in hell he has video footage of either version of the latest one.

Even if you were the one running Nintendo, you can only demand so much. That said it would be pretty cool to see what the game would look like in motion.

If I ran Nintendo I would make the impossible just to bring Unreal Engine 4 support for the Wii U (even if it means an expensive launch price for the console) because it will probably become the standard for multiplatform games and thanks to the lack of UE3 support on Wii (and some other problems) we saw a lackluster third party support on Wii.

I would also:
-Improve online functionalities and implement things like achievement/trophies

-I would bring a new classic controller for people who don't like motion controllers/touch screen. Of course, we need a MUCH improved classic controller, the wii's classic controller has a very basic design and lack some buttons.

-Acquire 2 or 3 good studios (similar to Naughty Dog, Santa Monica etc) just to make different kind of games.

-Encourage developers to release some old games (like GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim etc) as digital release, so the Nintendo fanbase wouldn't lose anything very important.

UE4 support for Wii U is currently unconfirmed, but Epic Games have gone on record to say they like the platform. It's also rumored that Nintendo tweaked the Wii U to be able to run UE4.

As to respond to your other inquiries..

-If the 3DS is any indication, they already are improving online functionality with the Wii U.

-I agree; preferably something close to the Gamecube controller, except wireless and I don't mean like the Wavebird either.

-Retro Studios. And they have published games from smaller developers such as Pushmo by Intelligent Systems and Dillon's Rolling Western by Vanpool.

-They're supposedly doing that already. Rumor has it the console will support digital retail games at launch. If that's the case then games like Batman Arkham City, Ninja Gaiden III and Assassin's Creed III will all have digital downloads at launch.

I agree with you and I do think Nintendo is trying to improve online functionalities and if the Cloud Storage rumor is to be believed, I think we will probably see a lot of good features concerning online profiles and hopefully achievements/trophies.

Retro Studios is an awesome studio and I love their games but Nintendo needs more studios in order to bring more different games if they want every audience. And I want Nintendo to acquire a studio just to develop new IPs, not old ones (like Retro usually do). Maybe some new action/shooter/3D platformer game. I really miss the old RARE :(

And I was talking about old games like... you know... Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Arkham Asylum etc. I want digital releases for old games.

Iwata already said Wii U will support digital retail games at launch (which is a very good move) but they need to encourage developers. I don't think they are trying to do it with the eShop. I mean... Gameloft has a lot of games, why aren't they even bothering with the eShop?

Agreed, UR4 will probably become the standard for multiplatform games. If So, I hope Nintendo would be kind enough to implement the UR4 support for the wii U because if it doesn't , it will pose a huge problem for any multiplatform games to be ported over to the Wii U.

The reason I say that,UR4 will have more effects and tools that is more robust than UR3. That said, it would probably make it very difficult to port games between both game engines(UR4/UR3)

I would look at xbox live and psn and look to invest heavily into a online market place that's easy to use like and work

Im honestly sick of this "classic controller" bull. I personally sick of usin the exact same controller for gen after gen. The WiiUPad is practically a regular a controller with a screen. Unglue yourself from the 360/dualshock controller design please.
