Seeing how these were the same people that handled Among Thieves I can't help but be psyched !! They handled the multiplayer pretty well and well the story..It was SUPERB. I trust in them and know what they come up with well be good.
Of course it's going to have online support. The game industry knows that is where more income can come from and where gamers spend most of their time. Whether people like it or not we are going more and more in the direction of always being connected online.
Nintendo, and Japan in general, has been the most reluctant to go this route. Now it shows just how far western gaming has come in comparison when it comes to online gaming.
I initially agreed with your thoughts myself, but if you read the quote, he specifically omits emphasis of "online" from the multiplayer they're including. It's really hard to imagine what kind of experience they're going to go for, since we don't even know anything about the game, really, but I'd imagine they're working on the multiplayer aspect in a way complimentary to the game.
Well we have to wait and see right? I agree with smashcrashbash... U2 and U3 mp are awesome..
I'll give you a good example... Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood... when I heard it would have mp I scoffed saying it doesn't need it...
Then I saw it and I went OMGWTFBBQ...I was so hooked, looked up every bit of info on it, watched every shaky cam vid of it... pre ordered it so I could be in the beta...
It was one of the best MP's of 2010... my personal fav was RDR, thanks to the amount of fun I had with my friends playing it over the summer
Hopefully they take into consideration all of their gameplay design from the story and make a really interesting multiplayer. They have a great oppurtunity to make something big, hopefully they take advantage of this and make a MP that seperates itself from the prototypical console MP.
At least when people complained about U2 there was some sort of possibility that it was going to work (and it did) but for this type of game it just won't work, anyone who says it will are just trying to sugarcoat it for themselfs.
Single Player games are dying, I thought ND would be the last developers to do this
I hope it won't be co-op
As for that "jerk" saying they won't buy it without multiplayer...they obviously are just getting into games this gen...moron.
I don't know whether this will be good or bad. As much as we know about the game, we still don't know a whole lot. I highly doubt we'll see Uncharted-style multiplayer included. Some sort of co-op survival mode might work: two people strategically making their way out of an area with infected people, or less than friendly fellow survivors. The game strikes me as being as much suspense as anything, so I feel like a tense co-op style might fit.
I have no problem with having multiplayer in this game. Naughty Dog has already proven that they can make a good multiplayer mode without making sacrifices to single player. If it was some other developer then I can see why people would worry but this is Naughty Dog we're talking about.
I could have sworn that they said that it would have no multiplayer some time back.
Don't misconstrue what I'm saying. I'm indifferent when it comes to potential multiplayer.
People can't be happy or disappointed yet, as we know absolutely nothing about it.
I don't typically play multiplayer for games like Red Dead, UC2, Max Payne 3. But, I do hope for the people interested that it is....well..interesting.
As long as it doesn't hinder the single player, and given their track record there is no reason why it would, then I am fine with it.
But still in Naughty Dog we trust. Very excited for this game

If there was a game that totally doesnt need MP this is it. And "some kind of Multiplayer" sounds like the very definition of tacked on.
"we're working on a bunch of ideas, but we haven't nailed anything down. We definitely know it's going to be awesome."
It would be like putting MP in Shadow of the Colossus.
But, I should say, I have complete faith in ND. It will be great for sure.

Please no versus though...

Really ND...whats the point
