i'd say close enough to the real figures.

What's funny about these reports is you hear how well the Wii is selling. Sure, the console is selling. But what about the games? The Wii games overall have sold poorly. Casual gamers just don't buy games. I wonder how long it will take for the experts to notice this?

"Unfortunately, the PS3 has such a small install base it is unable to successfully support two first-person-shooters in the same month. This theory will likely hold true for other great titles under the same genre with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction cannibalizing each other’s sales in December. This is evident in the prediction market’s expectations of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which currently stands at only 142,000 units. Of course we do recognize that Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank are not technically in the same genre but given the PS3’s small install base, these two genres (action-combat and action-platform) tend to blend together in the eyes of consumers"

pretty interesting...never thought of it like that before

The reason why Orange Box got low sales on the PS3 is because hardcore gamers knew it was a broken product with frame rate issues and was destined to be a shi++y port as EA was in charge and not Valve. So basically it was a bad product and who in their right mind is going to buy a bad product for the PS3 when they can get the same great product on the 360 and PC? I can honestly say that's why I had no interest in picking it up for my PS3.

I think R&CF and Uncharted aren't selling well because people don't seem to buy those types of games now. It's all first person shooters now. The only reason Super Mario Galaxy sold is the name. R&CF is one of the best games of the year. I bet most gamers think it's a kiddy game though. Platformers overall just seem to be dying out. Maybe the sales will pick up over the next few months.

who didn't buy R&C because they classed it as a kids game

seems accurate...its odd how 2 shooters disappoint...while Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 for 360 are selling like maddddd

gunnerforlife3988d ago

is this the final numbers from NPD?

testerg353988d ago

I thought VGCHARTZ adjust their numbers after NPD releases theirs... so could it be they adjusted it after this release and that's why its so close?

Meus Renaissance3988d ago

VGChartz seems close to this prediction. It had the Xbox 360 for 1,417,000 for December. We'll wait for the NPD
