$1000 just to SEE games? I might as well use that money to BUY/PLAY them.

Game4life4366d ago

I've checked prices before i think last year for a full access pass it was like between 1500 and 2k. This is cheap if its all access. trust me.

Someday I'll be able to go for free. Here's to finishing my degree in game journalism!

LOGICWINS4366d ago

I wish you the best, but from what I hear, most journalists(at least the good ones) don't have the time to really enjoy these events as much as regular gamers. Theres just not enough time in the day to experience EVERYTHING with scheduled interviews, scheduled games to preview, and press screenings.

As a non-journalist, I'd rather be playing games than talking to the people who promote them.

I have attended one E3 from a journalistic view and yes as LOGICWINS said, its far less about enjoying the games and more about running from one meeting to the next and making sure you covered all the games you were supposed to. Half the time you are not even getting to play the games but rather just there to listen to someone walk through a demo in front of you. Lots and lots of walking as well.

Made it to one E3 back when Halo 3 was announced, its a ton of fun. By the end of the day, your far more wore out than any trip to Disney or any other theme park. You seriously are on your feet all day, waiting in lines, walking, exploring. It is fun and a once in a lifetime thing, but I would never pay for that type of thing.

It's cheaper than most of the conferences I go to. I've paid as much as $5000 for a 5 day conference.

kneon4366d ago

It's not unusual. I've seen as high as 5000 euros for a 4 day conference. But that is for access to everything with all the bells and whistles. If you just want pavilion access it's usually significantly cheaper. In that particular case I think it was about 700 euros.

@WeskerChildReborn

$1000 for three day pass.

kneon4366d ago

I don't understand the disagrees, do people really think conferences aren't so expensive? Here is one of the more expensive ones I've gone to, though I skipped it this year.

http://www.mobileworldcongr...

4999 Euros for the top pass for 4 days.

The average price for most conferences I attend is probably around $2000 for a 3-4 day conference.
