Top 5 First-Person Shooters

"The first person shooter genre has gotten pretty stale over the past few years, with every game trying to be exactly like Call of Duty, but still being stomped on by it. Years ago, FPS games were so varied and plentiful that you could always pick one up and pretty much count on it being an excellent experience. So I’ve decided to make this list of my personal Top 5 first-person shooters so remember the heyday of the genre."

Doom 2 should've gotten in over Doom 1 IMO there were quite a few notable improvements and lets not forget the double barrel shotgun!

It's a shame they cancelled number 4 I spent countless hours on Future Perfect I had good times with that game

It technically wasn't cancelled, it was put on hold by Cryteck after they picked it up from the fallen free radical (now Cryteck UK). But I just saw on youtube, apparently a trusted source got a hand on a working demo, and it is going to be released on PS4 and the other next gen consoles.

You do realize MGS isn't a first person shooter let alone a shooter. That said every COD game has been critically acclaimed and has an aggregate score of 80+, thus, holding the opinion the the last five CODs are personally the best fps isn't without substance (although it can be considered a bit shallow).

Anyway my personal favorites:

1. COD4: Modern Warfare
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Deus Ex: HR
4. Bioshock
5. Halo 3

Honestly I would put halo, resistance, killzone, crysis, and battlefield all above blops. But that's just me.

4 Unreal Tournament ( I actually played Quake 3 more but I have fonder memories of UT)
5 Stalker SoC
6 Painkiller (angry at myself for forgetting it)

Narrowly missing out, Quake 2 and 3, Counterstrike, Doom 2, The first Half Life, Sin (I liked it), Star Trek Elite Force 1 and 2, Republic Commando, Project IGI, Soldier of Fortune 2 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

I forgot Timesplitters and Goldeneye. The original Farcry and Tribes 2 and Painkiller. I forgot Jedi Knight as well as Aliens vs Predator.

i'm sorry but are these in regards to sales? bacause CoD is not even close in gameplay unless you like linear hand holding interactive movie style fps and dumbed down multiplayer. i take it this guy doesn't actually play many games.

I don't get why they would include Goldeneye when Perfect Dark is pretty much a complete upgrade from it.
Also Black Ops doesn't deserve to be on a list of Top 100 First Person Shooters.

That's how it go biatches. These COD's & crap are good, but they are f$#king far from being on the TS's level of sheer fun & greatness.
Best fun I've had in a fps is playing one of my mates non-stop in Timesplitters 1 deathmatches.
