Are console download platforms unfair to indies?

Digitally Downloaded writes: "And yet here we are with not a single mainstream distribution service being recognised as “excellent” for indie developers." (3DS, Industry, iPad, iPhone, Microsoft, Nintendo, PS Vita, PS3, Sony, Wii, Xbox 360)

Console brands need to work on their relationships with the indie scene

Some of the requirements by the big 3 is quite ridiculous.

Gee, and all this time I thought that Indie was short for INDEPENDENT.

There are PROS and CONS to being an independent developer... these are the breaks. Don't cry to me about it.

Oh wait nevermind, I forgot, we're still in the "entitlement era" generation of gaming aren't we?

I mostly agree, but I wouldn't go so far as to label this "entitlement."
It's more or less that underdog favoritism we all inherently possess. Since more and more heavy-hitting, "safe" titles release that feel less and less different from each other, gamers will always-rightfully-cheer for the next indie title that pursues something different from the pack.

At the same time, the question "When the **** is it ever fair for independent companies?" deserves to be raised. Gamers have to realize the capitalist system breeds the CHANCE of success, not the guarantee of it.

LOL. Too bad most gamers rarely put the money where their mouth is when it comes to supporting whoever/whatever they claim deserves support. They're nowhere nearly as open-minded as they like to convince themselves they are.

Steam (Valve) and Direct 2 Drive (Game Fly) are mainstream.
What are you smoking?

if they open too much, you know dev's are gonna fuck it up big time, they will release every fking crap they can, look at ubisoft, they release only fking ports for the Vita with a 400% higher pricetag.
ofcurse ubi is no indie, but just to show, this is a console, I want games on it, not cheap-shit that I can play 5minutes and delete, that belongs to smartphones
