Can Diablo 3 Live Up to the Hype?

As a fan of Diablo 2, I have to admit that when the development studio behind the game, Blizzard North, was shut down I was quite nervous about the future of the series. A little before they were closed it was rumored that they had been working on Diablo 3, which naturally made a lot of people, including myself, very excited.

After the studio was closed, Blizzard never made mention of there being a sequel to a franchise that I dearly loved. However, during 2008′s Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris, France the game was announced and since that announcement many fans have been anticipating the release of the game.

If you have not played any of the previous games in the franchise you may be asking what is it about the Diablo series that makes it a must play title, why should you care about it?

Yes and no; just like StarCraft 2 : WoL. To most people, Diablo 3 will be an awesome game and they will quickly forget about the new art direction and everything people have been complaining about on the forums. But, to some, the game won't meet their high expectations.
Some will probably say it's too much like Diablo 2, as in it is stuck almost a decade ago. Others will say it has gone too far from its roots and shouldn't be called Diablo.
And since Activision and Blizzard are the same company, there will probably be a minority of people haing the game just because of that fact.

But, in the end, I believe Diablo 3 will be a great game; although I'm still waiting on a WarCraft 4 announcement...

People will complain because it is popular (and anything that is popular has lots of people complaining about it). But I bet it will be fun and be worth every penny I paid for it. I played the Beta a tonne and never got bored, I played D2 a tonne and never got bored, I expect D3 to be the same.

It has a lot of hype to fulfill, hopefully it won't be like Duke Nukem...

I'm a huge Blizz fan and I played D3 a bit in the open beta weekend, I liked it and I'll buy it on release day, I'll probably even buy the expensive edition because Blizzard make great collectables.

But just 3 days after D3 Max Payne 3 is out and I'll just have to drop D3 to play that, I mean its R* man. I'm not sure if R* Vancouver pump out the same quality as R* North but I'm sure it will be great anyway.
