Fan Outrage Focuses on Saints Row: The Third

With the recent announcement of the new Saints Row: The Third expansion pack, Enter The Dominatrix, fans were outraged. This pack was originally brought to the player’s attention on April 1st as everyone thought it was an April fool’s joke, however, now we have been informed that this is far from a joke. What THQ has is a game that they attempted to make every gamer love instead of having fans of a select genera stick with the franchise. Saints Row: The Third was intended for both fans old and new but in the end it has proven to be a bigger let down to people who previous loved the series, not to mention those who picked up their first Saints Row title as Saints Row: The Third seem to be getting a little burnt out with all the ‘fun’. What is it that drove the diehard fans of the series away from Saints Row: The Third and what is keeping new fans from continuing to love the game? (PC, PS3, Saints Row, Saints Row 2, Saints Row: The Third, Xbox 360)

I really wish the series was more like how it was in Saints Row 2. i love the humor in the third and i ever love the game but the "over-the-top" stuff they got in it gets old fast :/ i want answers from the first games not a bunch of pointless bull crap lol

i personally loved the saints row 2 (never played 1) for it's take on the "gangster tale" being over the top and crude, but at the same time well written in a fun way. it felt like what action games would have been like if they would have developed straight from the colourful wacky era of video games, it felt fresh in comparison to todays market.

that is exactly how i feel. i just think before it was funny but still cool and gangster. now i just dont have as huge of a connection to it

I agree the secret stuff in SR2 left a cliffhanger ending that was never answered in SR3 they should continue that. Or if they are going to do an expansion do a return to stillwater expansion with the SR3 engine.

Is the DLC even worth buying? I've heard the DLC only lasts for 2-3 hours when they were supposed to be expansions.
Janitor  +   1375d ago
No, it's crap. I got it free with season pass pre-order, and that's what it should cost everyone: $0
Gamer1982  +   1375d ago
The other DLC were a giant waste of money I bought the season pass and I wish I didn't this has put me off pre-ordering DLC in the future. Especially as this new DLC doesn't come free with it? That's a joke!
Janitor  +   1375d ago
Yeah, that was a short "season" huh.
Dark_Overlord  +   1374d ago
Same here, usually season pass's include ALL DLC, this joke of a pass included 4 packs? and that was it. Complete rip off, aint ever buying a season pass from them again

Regardless I'm excited for the expansion.

I guess it was less story driven and more weird and wacky plots. Which were really cool, but they were more like Michael Bay.

Saints Row 1 and possibly 2 had heart. In this their like the Million Dollar man, perfect in every way yet its missing its soul what made it SR.

Does thq know the meaning taking a joke too far?

saint row the third. just felt like a bunch of parents was protesting outside THQ, to tone down their next saint row game and make it more kid friendly. what happened to smoking, drinking, drinking and driving, spray paint walls, ect. i hate what they did to it. i wish they go back to how they made saint 1&2 soo good, instead of this garbage.

I'm pretty sure big purple dildos isn't family friendly or having the sex appeal option.
vega275  +   1374d ago
No its not, but I bet if you ask any parent. Which would you not have a problem with in a game, the things I've listed or a purple dildo. Bet many would choose the dildo

What they did in Saints Row The Third was fun the first few play through's but got old real quick. Some things just ruined the suspension of disbelief, like when you lock onto a car with a rocket launcher and the car just disappears. If you are up high in the air, the cars you see below aren't really there so it does no good to shoot at them.

I don't want to be that person, but I believe the word the author is looking for here is "genre."

I loved SR3 - while sometimes it seemed over the top, it did so in a way that was decidedly toned down. Riding around town with a tiger in the passenger's seat felt normal for the game. Jumping in a fighter-jet and mowing down enemy gangs felt right in tune (if it didn't take all the challenge out of it). It wasn't as if the game threw you into the middle of a city and said "Here ya go, have fun with dildos and rocket bikes."

Actually...nevermind.

I think they went over the top with SR3 and the DLC just kept adding to that problem.

The thing I was disapointed the most with though was the map size. I was thinking because it was a new city they could of made it bigger then Stillwater. I mean look at how big Just Cause 2 was

This game would have been a gem if they focused more on the open world. It was so stale and boring that it brought the rest of the game down. The quirky humor in this game was stupid and repetitive.

I miss the multiplayer from the original Saints Row the most. Bring that along with the co-op campaign & I'll be happy.
KaBaW  +   1375d ago
My favorite is still Saints Row 1, it had a seriousness to it. I don't like the "over the top" SR3.
MasterD919  +   1375d ago
I can't stand how cartoonish the cars feel and drive. I feel like that is what made me go back to GTA. If you don't want to drive, you don't want to explore the city. And frankly, out of all the SR games- the 3rd game has the worst city of all. Its bland as all hell.

I didn't think SR needed to get any more zanier than they did in SR2. Nobody was asking for an extremely over-the-top game. It worked fine initially but I agree (and especially with all of the DLC packs) it has lost its flavor a bit.

Didnt know people had a problem with Sr3? Yeah some of the things get old quick but this game was one of the most fun and funniest games I played last year.

Fan... meaning probably only one.

It says "Fan" not fans, these small blog sites do anything for hits.

I wish there was a way to ban them from your feed.

"Fan... meaning probably only one"

I'm guessing you haven't been to the official forums.

It's a wonder why THQ is going under...
