VG247: EA will announce results today, likely confirming Crysis 3 for the current FY behind Medal of Honor: Warfighter’s October release. The publisher’s vertical strategy could cause problems for genre-straddler Black Ops 2.
No. Simply put, nothing will cause problems for Black Ops 2. It's a CoD game.
While that comment can be taken either positive or negative, it can also be taken objectively. CoD's biggest enemy is itself at this point, as sales of MW3 vs BlOps1 attests. MoH is a single player game, and that won't affect the majority of CoD players at all who are looking for the multiplayer experience (Even if it is copy/paste for the past 6 years). The time between the release of BlOps2 & Crysis 3 won't let one dictate the purchase/non-purchase of the other. I also think the Crysis series has always been directed towards the PC crowd with the amazing visuals their now updated Crytek engine can push, whereas the CoD series has always had consoles (specifically the 360) as their priority.
Fail @ replying. Can I disagree myself? Guess not.
Yeah. I wasn't defending or offending any of the games in the article. Just stating the obvious. Good or bad, CoD will thrive in sales because it is CoD. I am excited for both Warfighter, and Crysis 3. I am one of those people that will likely own all 3 since I don't pick favorites and play what i like. I just think this article doesn't exactly justify itself. Any gamer, journalist, or even person in this case knows what CoD is (they even talked about the amazing sales of MW3 on news channels). Halo 4 won't even dwindle the numbers down. With that being said gamers will play what gamers want to play. Me? Sure I'll own all the titles mentioned in the article. Thats because I play what I like.
I look forward to seeing the demise of MW3. That is all that matters.
