5 reasons why Black Ops 2 could be the best COD game ever made
COD games have become a bit repetitive over the years but with the future setting of Black Ops 2 and something for Treyarch to prove, here's five reasons why it could be the best in the series to date.
(Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, PC, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)
can you cod trolls not think of anything more clever or constructive to say? lolz for such elitist attitudes you sure are simple minded. you people should love cod~
on topic: mebe black ops 2 will be a small step in the right direction. even if they were to change the game, they're not gonna completely change the formula and alienate those millions of people who buy their game every year. if this next one isn't a step in the right direction, next year will prolly be their last top seller.
"Same ol same ol every year same game different clothing. "
Activision: Same ol same ol hardware every year different clothing
See what i did there. The game is being made for 6 year old hardware, what sort of changes do you expect them to make?
Its not like the hardware is getting any more powerful. They would like to maintain the 60fps performance in 9 vs 9 combat. Thats not going to happen if they think about upping the graphics or updating the engine.
Go cry to MS or Sony for holding the industry back or blame yourself for limint yourself to dated tech.
The way they see it is that if it sells, why change? They aren't going to change a game engine when they know millions will buy the game regardless of how it looks.
However, I believe it's at the end of that cycle. If this one doesn't do well, this one might be their last great hit.
Activision will then continue to destroy Blizzard...
The truth doesn't need to be clever or constructive.
@decrypt - Yeah I see what you did there. You ignored the fact that other games in this genre look better on that same hardware, and have made visual improvements from one game to another.
When COD developers decide to update things and not sell the same game with "different clothing" I think that's when you'll read more clever and constructive criticism towards the game, I'm just saying.
@decrypt So you're telling me MoH war fighter looks better than the last one because this time around it got better hardware?...I'll let you rethink somethings.
Truer words could never be spoken. Keep giving them your money fools, its the best game ever, every year. Best game ever. Keep teling yourself that... lol
what the hell does that even mean? If the game is the same thing over and over again..do you really need to have another argument to dismiss it? No.
man, people like you are what's wrong with gaming as a whole. youre ok with getting the same thing over and over again for the SIXTH time now? This is exactly why there's such a lack of variety within the industry. companies do as little as possible to keep people buying the same sort of thing. not trying to attack you personally. Im just saying, if you have a lazy attitude and are happy with the same thing, thats cool. just dont try and rant about how other peoples dismay is somehow unjust, because it's deff on-point.
I'm interested because of the new setting and timeline, but then again, it's COD, so I have no real hope. If it's good, it's good, but im not expecting it to be.
Without the IW (original members) creating COD no one would of ever heard of treyarch today. Its not even worth mentioning IW now. Doesn't mean anything to anyone since COD4.
The game genuinely looks different from the others even though it will probably play the same. If it can nail a gripping story then I'm all ears. Multiplayer will likely be standard fare though.
Treyarch seem to be the only one who changes stuff in Call Of Duty. This future setting does has my attention, I give em that. Not sold yet. But if they manage to pull of the story and blow my mind with something new with Zombies, then I may very well be sold.
It is their smartest biggest most innovative Call of Duty since 2007. Black Ops II will be great in my opinion and will shatter records again. Can't wait to get my hands on it with my friends. Countless hours of fun nothing better than that.
And ironically, without having to worry about an online pass and still for $60 like every other game claiming to be better and more fun than CoD. I am personally stoked for Blops 2 cuz IMo, Treyarch has been the premier CoD developer since the original Modern Warfare.
Looks terrible I watched the trailer and I can see what the devs have done, they have made it look bright shiny very HD looking however looking at the character modelling, clothing etc it looks very bad, cant fool me.
The key addition seems to be a new branching story structure. Reports from the games press, including IGN, suggest that at certain points in the single-player campaign, players will have to make tactical and perhaps even moral choices, which will lead to different outcomes.
The campaign is also set to feature Strike Force missions, which work like mini-RTS (real-time strategy) levels. Players are thrust into a sandbox battlefield where they're able to swap control between different units – seemingly including mech walkers, tanks and ground troops – as they coordinate the offensive. It looks like players will get to select different Strike Force missions at different times, adding to the slight non-linearity of the mode.
I refuse to let the hype suck me in. I skipped MW3 and im glad I did. I did pick up BLOPS but after a couple rounds of Zombies and one campaign playthrough, I was done with it. The multi hasnt changed at all since COD4 and I dont see it changing anytime soon.
I agree but with the second one "story changes" we have heard this for years.....very few games have ever actually done it. A majority of the time it comes down to being good or evil, and very little difference either way.
I definitely see your point. I can only hope they'll make the choices matter and actually give you entirely different outcomes. That's for pointing that out!
Makes me laugh when cod haters come here, dont get me wrong I have not bought a cod for 2 yrs for my own reasons but I dont slate a good game millions enjoy, why waste your time just to troll, if u dont like cod dont click the links lol.
You DO realize that most of the people complaining are former CoD fans, right? That they got tired of spending $60 on the same damn game year after year?
People aren't just "hating" on the series because they got shit else to do. They want significant improvements so they can enjoy playing it again. They complain about the same engine because there's no damn reason for them to be using the same engine for the 5th, 6th, or 7th game. The guns still sound like toys. The animations are all old. Why did they remove campaign co-op?
And so on, and so on.
Is none of that legitimate? Should people like me just cut our losses and say, "Oh, well, guess I shouldn't want improvements. I'll go find some other games to play instead?"
Former diehard CoD fan here to say that I stopped buying Call of Duty titles after MW2. CoD4 is the best in the series, and it's been a downward spiral since MW2 launched. I've rented the later titles, but bought the first Black Ops on a whim. It was a step in the right direction and was way better than MW2, but MW3 is a damn joke.
I beat the campaign in less and 5 hours and played MP long enough to be done with the game after 3 days. Then, back to GameFly it went. A ridiculously brief "been there, done that" campaign and a rehashed corridor-gank-fest MP shooter? It's laughable.
I think Black Ops is the better of the titles after CoD4, but I expect Black Ops 2 to suffer the same fate as the MW series. Despite my preference for Treyarch's work, chances are, I won't even play it.
I understand your feelings, but you guys are just wasting your time trolling all the people on here that enjoy the new installments for what they are worth.
Even petitioning you know its the same...
The thing I find saddest is that the haters generally buy or rent every installment anyways.
If you don't like it anymore then move on, or just just hold onto your cash until you hear that COD has returned to its former glory.
People who come to sites like this are supposed to be informed gamers. Can you guys really not wait two months to hear everyone complain its the same thing. Do you guys have to buy day one, return day two and complain about your wasted money to those with differing opinons year after year.
"Should people like me just cut our losses and say, "Oh, well, guess I shouldn't want improvements. I'll go find some other games to play instead?" "
At this point your complaints are as rehashed as you say COD is. There are other games out there. Find them.
Better than: "that tastes bad" *takes another swig* "terrible" *takes another swig* "**** that some nasty ****" *takes another swig* *pukes*
@ZoyosJD I had no clue that expressing a legitimate and fair opinion on something was classified as trolling...
The thing is, in order to formulate a fair opinion on ANYTHING, you need to experience it firsthand. This is why I rent the CoD titles instead of buying them. It would be ignorant of me to state that these games are good or bad without having played them myself.
I understand where you're coming from with the "stop playing and wait until you hear the reviews," but there are games I've loved that haven't gotten the reviews I think they deserve. There are also games I've hated that have gotten high marks.
It's not sad that a gamer takes the time to play a game that even he/she might think they won't like. It's called being open-minded. That's what experiencing art is all about, no? As you said, "people who come to this site are supposed to be informed gamers." Is not playing these games the best way to be informed?
And for the record, many gamers, including myself, HAVE moved on and found other games to play. Why do you think I played MW3 for 4 days and sent it back to GameFly?
Despite these things, I do agree that many other gamers buy the game and complain like damn idiots when they trade it in the next day, and perhaps they should wait/rent before they buy. However, your complaining about our general dissatisfaction with the games is a little hypocritical: you're amongst the millions of other gamers who make the same complaint every year.
I totally disagree with your last statement. Gamers who play the game need to voice their opinions, regardless of how good/bad or repetitive they may seem. That's the only way these publishers/developers will be able to make improvements to their games.
It just seems like to me, they are innovating the series ALOT more than IW and are making changes that will make the game alot better. Black Ops was a much better game than MW3 i just hope that they sort out the Hit-Detection for the MP because its awful.
i big positive for me is try something new. future warfare, sounds like lots of fun, alos the storyline seems very interesting caint wait to play it. and zombies being bigger and better thats another positive. engine seems a bit better with facial animations and lighting. edit: a new thing for the call of duty series future warfare. its been done before but not for call of duty.
Again COD hype... Remember All review were 9 out of 10 for MW3.. But in real deal that review fail.. people start screaming.. This will happen again.. COD will buy all review, will make million from us and what we will get anger, frustration and feel cheated like MW3.. I play MW3 MP everyday and I found that game become worst day by day. LAG LAG.. poor spwan.. but what they did nothing just engaged in marketing for new game... Again i will buy that game cause I m a hardcore COD fan.. after that I will start blaming COD dev team for poor engine, broken MP.. But at the end of day I am stupid who love COD, every year I believe in them to serve better.. But why they care about we gamer, they are busy in counting money what we waste on that stupid game.. but I will keep playing COD and make them rich..
1.Made By Activision 2.Activision is run by kotick 3.They could resell MW2 with a new name and it would sell 20 milion copies and they know it 4.Made by the same people who made Black ops (crap game) 5.Its Call of duty
It would sure be nice for once to have a mature conversation about a call of duty game. Not really sure why people who hate cod so much spend so much time in articles about it. I am looking forward to black ops 2. I've liked treyarch since world at war. I still play black ops a few times a week, and if world at war wasn't full of hackers I would still play it
It can't be the best because the best has already come from this franchise in this generation. That doesn't happen twice in a gen unless the game is completely revamped into something that looks and plays like something we've never played before (hence why CoD4 was so amazing). And we know that is not happening.
CoD now revolves around two things. The fans blindly searching for a lost love and hoping she is right around the corner, and idiots taking advantage of the name to make money on youtube or for their website.

REHASH
"success breeds jealousy and creates enemies"
Also, the in-match ranking system that was based on kills was really really cool.
I watched the trailer and I can see what the devs have done, they have made it look bright shiny very HD looking however looking at the character modelling, clothing etc it looks very bad, cant fool me.

Zombies story mode
Campaign gives you options that changes story
Zombie mode has multiplayer engine
And Strike Force.
These are the bigger changes. Here's a list of more.

Also Zombies. Just. Zombies.
COD's done. If they make SOCOM HD, I will never have to touch another game. SOCOM back in the day, was the COD of the early 2000's.
Fact is COD blows and the only reason people will buy this game is for Nazi Zombies.
This is said every time, and none have matched the tact of COD4.
edit: a new thing for the call of duty series future warfare. its been done before but not for call of duty.
