God of War Director's Next Game Could Be a Shooter

IGN | David Jaffe has two ideas for his next game, and one has a gun.

When God of War and Twisted Metal director David Jaffe saw the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 trailer, the set pieces intrigued him for the first time in a while.

"I love the genre, but I feel it has been allowed to go a little -- well, actually, quite a lot -- stale when it comes to moment to moment mechanics," he said, noting RPG mechanics have shifted the focus from how similar enemy encounters are. "I'm hoping to see that iterated on in the future. (David Jaffe, Dev, God of War, PS3)

It doesn't HAVE to be just another shooter. Let a talented group have a hand at it before you shoot it down.

Make sure to involve god of war elements, like ripping people apart. Something like a superhuman. Something like Terminator! but not terminator. Like half man half machine

An exceptional (3d) Terminator game could be absolutely amazing. But like Superman, pulling it off could be tricky and it just hasn't been done yet.

how the fuck is this news?
David (respect the hell out of this guy) has nothing to do with God of War or Sony. He left Eat Sleep Play and formed his own indie company?
So I don't get how someone who has no influence on god of war anymore can determine what the next game in the series will be. Can someone explain that to me?
Reborn  +   1179d ago
They mean, HIS own next game. One with his new company.

Not Santa Monica Studios next game.. This has nothing to do with what's next for God of War, or the series.

Technically the title is not wrong. Jaffe was the director of the first God of War game ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... ). Also, you should probably correct yourself when you say he has nothing to do with Sony, as he has worked with Sony in the past. If you said he has nothing to do with Sony at the moment, you'd be correct.

And as Reborn said, if you actually read anything before commenting (hell, the little paragraph still on this page, not even the linked article), you'd notice that the article is talking about "His" next game, what the next game in the God of War series will be.

Then again, reading is hard...

You know Call of Duty has destroyed the gaming market when God of War's ex-director says his next game could be a shooter.

Implying Twisted Metal doesn't involve any shooting? Lolol

Exactly. Think before you write man. Don't just say stuff. Violence and shooting is not exactly new to him. Besides I don't see what is wrong with making more shooters as long as they at least try to innovate. How is each genre supposed to evolve if you don't let other try to enhance it or bring something new to the table?
