i don't get why joe public should pay for it to be developed then pay to play it. sega must have enough dosh to get this game rolling.

+ would we want a game built off of donations. what if it only reaches 4 million.we would be stuck with a 4 million budget shenmue 3.

"In 2010, a new entry in the Shenmue series was announced to be released for the PC and mobile phones in Japan. Much like Shenmue online, Shenmue World is not a sequel, but rather a social games service for Yahoo! Mobage service. However, it was shutdown at the beginning of 2012 due to lack of interest."

LOL so sega start a game and drop it for not getting enough interest, yet shenmue 3 has had massive interest and they won't even bother with it?

something seriously wrong with these guys.

When you pay for something on Kickstater you get rewards back for supporting it.

For example if you donate say $40 - $60 more than likely when the game comes out you'll receive a voucher for a free download of the game thanks to your donation.

At least that what other developers, musicians, and film producers do as long as the donation is reasonably close to what the average consumer would pay for it.

And generally you get all the other rewards that came before you level of donation (usually t-shirts, memberships, etc...).

If a KickStarter doesnt reach its target, no money is charged to anyone who said they would pay. The only way we would be given a 4 Million Budget Shenmue 3 is if that was what Sega set as thier budget.

Sega is too stupid to bring back a true gem like Shenmue.Yu Suzuki can't put part 3 on KS because he doesn't own the license...Sega will just let Shenmue rot while they produce mediocre trash....

I hope to see you again in Shenmue 3 Ryo Hazuki!

When I saw the first fight scene in Shenmue 1, I knew I had to root for you to kick Lan-Di ass!

Day 1 purchase if this comes into fruition!

Sega could fund Shenmue 3 easily if they wanted to. But due to Sega's own incompetence, they are in the position they're in now. Which is why they dont have their own console anymore.

At any rate, Dark Sniper would be in full support of a Shenmue 3 Kickstarter campaign. He would gladly donate each and every paycheck of it meant Shenmue III being released.

Do people really refer to themselves in the third person in this day and age?

I really think the nostalgia of Sega would blow the doors off kickstarter and receive the highest donation ever, i wouldnt mind if this was done repeatedly to get some sega franchises back in action..such as remakes (and enhanced) of the Panzer Dragoon series, Daytona USA, chu-chu rocket and others, but they need to stick these on PC if they want sales (i think) and my support. As long as they make these games pretty good and do the absolute best they can with the graphics and emulate the gameplay, these games will sale for years to come on steam sales and through other merchants.

yes kickstarter FTW!

Considering Shenmue's previous production costs, they'd only have to raise a quarter of a billion dollars :D
