Is DLC fairly priced?

When Downloadable Content first hit gamers were rewarded with options to take their favorite game further. However, it seems that publishers are taking advantage of the hardcore and casual gamers of today. Years ago before DLC was introduced, a game was created to be the ultimate experience for gamers. With that the fans would suffer due to delay after delay of our favorite games or the new game that we oogled(<—not a word) at in magazines! (Bethesda Game Studios, Dev, EA, Industry, PC, PS3, Rockstar Games, Xbox 360)

I think when some dlc is released it should have been part of the original game in the first place and that the developer didn't include it to make an extra buck

On disk paid DLC is a huge problen with this industry. It's blatant proof that it was stripped out of the original game. As far as other DLC is concerned, its debatable.

For example, Ubisoft has already pretty much confirmed 3 paid DLC missions for AC3. Does that mean that this DLC was stripped from the original game? We don't know. Development on the game ended months ago(the director said that the game can be played from beginning to end and they are just polishing now). The DLC could be being created as we speak.

That's actually a really, really, really good point.

I mean, when do we decide to accept when DLC is okay or when it's stripped?

Even if the DLC is being made after the game is "finished" it sometimes feels like the game itself isn't as "polished" as it should be, even though DLC is already on the way.

I'm also really scared about Borderlands 2 for the same reason. I think they've said that with their new design scheme they can pump out DLC by the truckload in a matter of weeks? That scares me the same way that it scares me to think about DLC already being worked on for AC3 even though the game hasn't gone gold yet.

It all depends on who the developer or publisher behind the game is.

how can you make a blanket statement like that? Not all dlc is created equally or priced equally.

He says: "I `pay 60 dollars for a game and then i need to pay 10 more for the dlc"

That makes a total of 54 euro or instead of 10 dollars lets put 20. Which makes it 61 euro. And you americans complain? haha
A game in Spain is at an average cost of 60 to 70 euro plus dlc's are tagged at the same price as yours, but change the $ for the €.
So in a game like MW3 that with all dlc's can cost around 120€ for us, makes for you 159$. And you think it's still a high price? Sure it is, but the problem is that the only ones that suffer from the greed of the companies is Europe, where 1dollar is 1€.
And our wages are bullshit.

Halo, COD, BF3 and gears map packs: NO

Shooters seem to love charging unfair amounts between 800-1200 ms points and for new maps that's just not worth it....

Almost all DLC is overpriced and does hardly any significant to add to the original experience.

I haven't bought a single piece of DLC content this generation.
