CVG writes: Xbox Live Arcade hit Trials Evolution is basically coming out on PlayStation Vita via copy-cat game Urban Trials.
Handled by Polish developer Tate Interactive, Urban Trials is - you guessed it - a physics-based motocross game which has you manoeuvring a bike around an obstacle-filled 2.5D environment. It also looks near-identical to the XBLA title.
"Sony is all out of new IPs" or
"Can Sony come up with a game without copying" or
"Who will Sony copy next" or
*sigh*
Most games these days are similar. It just happens. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet "copied" the art style of Patapon. WAAAAT? STOP TEH PRESSEZ!
at the same time sony isn't making the game themselves, and why wouldn't they offer it on PSN? trials and trials evolution are great sellers, theres obviously a market for this genre.
everyone copies everyone, especially indie games.

As for copying, it happens. I mean Microsoft explicitly went out to copy the Gran Turismo series when they started up a studio to make Forza Motorsport, should people whine and complain about that? Of course not, it's a good thing when developers/publishers think "Hey that's a pretty cool game, let's give our customers something compareable to enjoy".
Getting upset and whining about people who own other consoles getting to enjoy something is just pathetic I think.
it just shows there was something worthy about the original to have others make titles similar.
Take for example super stardust on psn. There is an indie game on xblive called retribution. Very similar in both execution and display.
Nothing wrong with that.

In case you dont know it...

:P
sony is not even the publisher
Publisher: Tate Interactive

how is that sony's fault again ???
Nevermind the fact that Excitebike was before Trials. Nevermind that there are probably a dozen little indie flash games just like it. People who look for ANYTHING to bash Sony will indeed flock to this article to take their potshots.
The real kicker?
Sony's not at all involved in the production of the game.
What what hater gets caught up on little details like that? You sure as hell didn't.
Again, those old games, or indie games, are motocross games. You can't deny(I'm sure you will though) that the games style is incredibly similar to Trials. That is what I'm saying is a ripoff. Show me one of those games that is similar in style to Trials. And FYI, Sony is known for copying, and I'm not just referring to the game industry.
Also, didn't know Sony wasn't making this game but the way it was being defended I just assumed. My mistake.
and now i will too. but it's worth it. i'm tired of this site being dominated by irrational hypocrites. these people are so gung ho about not buying a 360 and hating microsoft, that they will shower unwarranted praise on sony for anything, including ripping off other games and ideas (e.g. Move).
to the noobs that will inevitably say Forza is a GT ripoff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
EDIT: This is NOT a pro-360 comment. I own and enjoy both systems.
Lbp kart racing really thats a rip off now so what does that make every other kart racer out there original? We all know how unoriginal Journey,The unfinished swan,Datura,LBP1,2 and heavy rain are...
you know that Microsoft didnt invent the wheel either right?
That motocross game was invented way before Microsoft put it on Xbox live....
But this game couldn't reek anymore of trials if it tried.
LBP Karting also seems to be a very different beast from the Mario Kart Racing-games - it's the Modnation guys making a kart-racer, based upon LBP's Kraftworld, and you can create your own weapons, modes, tracks, etc.
According to people who've played the first builds, it feels very much like a LBP-game, much more like Mario-kart or a Modnation-game for that matter.
Nindo-fans called LBP also a Mario-clone.. :-/
Battle Royale is kind of a ripoff tough, and the devs say that they are inspired by it, but they've put their own spin on it. - It is however something Playstation-fans has been asking for a long time, since Nintendo won't make a smash-game with Ratchet in - and for consumers it's great that Sony is making it. :)
If Nintendo-fans don't like it, they don't have to buy it.
I also don't think it's gonna be a E-rated game, like the Nintendo-titles, so you can potentially get alot of other third-party characthers besides Sony's - i.e. a potential characther from Mortal Kombat can be part of it, and do something similar to their own moves, rather than what it couldn't have if it were in a E-rated Mario game.
Also Sony usually gets alot more games, in all genres than the other platform-holders.
So, if someone else get's a good idea, Sony is more likely to make something similar aswell.
There are plenty original titles on the Playstation platform all year long, aswell as stuff clearly inspired by other good franchises.
This month forinstance, we get Starhawk, Sorcery, PixelJunk 4AM, Resistance: BS, and Atelier Meruru, all pretty original. In addition to the multiplatform titles.
While the only MS- or Nintendo-exclusives this month are Fable: Heroes, Mario Tennis, and Cradle of Rome 2.
Needless to say, it would be ridickolous if there could no longer come any Tennis games to PS3 or 360 anymore - even E-rated ones - just because Nintendo made their Mario Tennis.
Also, Mario games are special, Nintendo puts Mario ahead of everything they make.. Imagine if Sega had to cancel the olympic game, because there is a Mario and Sonic at the olympic.
We allmost couldn't have any sports games, because there are dozens of remade Mario Baseball, Golf, Strikers, etcetera.. and we couldn't have RPG's, because there is a Mario RPG: Legend of seven stars, and similar.
Competition is good for the industry, Uncharted forinstance were by critics just a 'dude raider' clone before we played it - but then it turned into a fantastic franchise.
And to me it seems like just the necesarry thing to get the Tomb Raider-people dosn't hurt because of that. :-/
well said +1111111
And when companies copied Sony's Singstar, Gran Turismo, etc. It was all good though right?
Never mind the fact Sony brought the most new IP and ideas out this Generation.
But it's cool to hate Sony these days from what I gather. Never mind the fact that when ANY other company copied, there wasn't even half as much of a big deal made.
Edit- and on a side note, it's not even Sony doing this game. The publisher is TATE MULTIMEDIA and the developer is TATE INTERACTIVE. But if it makes it easier for you to "blame Sony" for this one go right ahead.
oh and you are right i just find out that sony isnt even publishing this game lol, oops
Yes sony publishes this, but its an indy game and an easy yes seeing the success of trials.
also on this site it isnt cool to bash sony. its cool to bash EVERYTHING.
This entire game is a self published, self developed project by TATE entirely.

And be serious kid, do you REALLY want to see where most of Microsoft got inspiration for their games from? Why don't you go "link hunt" some of those the way you just did those Sony ones.
So please, don't even waste people's time, seriously.
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
All Stars Battle Royal could be called something like "massive copy". This is just another trials game. They are all almost the same.
CVG screwed up B-I-G T-I-M-E!!!
@ TheDivine. and Nintendo's SSB is just a copy of games that did the same thing before, only Nintendo just added Nintendo characters. What's your point? Is it only viable as long as you copy things that existed years ago. Does that make it okay?
Cheers Gamers & Happy Gaming!
