Sometimes, I hate being an American.

The life of a typical American gamer.

Wake up.
Yell at wife.
Go to work.
Discuss how "[email protected]$$" that new game looks.
Leave work.
Reserve said game (for the Xbox 360, mind you) because some idiot told you to.
Go home.
Yell at wife and kids.
Play Call of Duty all night.

Rinse. Repeat.

EDIT: I forgot one.

Watch UFC.

Thank god I'm not typical.

ChunkyLover532151d ago

I find that offensive to be honest. I consider myself to be typical and I like a wide array of games, I own all the consoles and nobody told me to buy a single one.

I think you aren't giving people credit for making their own choices when it comes to gaming. We are all entitled to play on whatever console we choose, no matter what anyone else might think about it.

MySwordIsHeavenly2151d ago

You're not typical then.

That's the point.

MiamiACR212151d ago

Your point was to make up a wife, a couple of cliche scenarios, and throw them together in an attempt to... well, there really was no point to anything you said.

MySwordIsHeavenly2151d ago

The attempt was to show you the typical American gamer. I live in Illinois, which is in America.

Was I off or something? I think I hit the nail on the head.

I'm not sure what your point was...

Can anybody explain why the Max Payne 3 preorders are so low? Was that the case for Red Dead Redemption?

MiamiACR212151d ago

I can try. I remember the pre-orders for Red Dead not being very high at the start either, it was a Western game that we don't get a lot of, so everyone was skeptical but still faith-bound to Rockstar since they create amazing open world games. Word of mouth kicked Red Dead Redemption up to the top for a couple of months, and rightly so. I'm not sure about Max Payne, even though I've loved the series from the start, it never really gained the momentum as say, Halo, or Call of Duty.

I reference those two games because Halo was one game at the beginning, gained a mass following, and is now what it is. Max Payne was always an underground sort of game, not really known but brilliant in it's own right. Hopefully with Rockstars name attached to the box, it will gain not only recognition in stores, but also through word of mouth like the underdog of the gaming industry, Red Dead Redemption managed to do.

Considering the sales RDR got, it had a very small amount of pre-orders. The biggest bump it had was the week before its launch which was still pretty small and ended up around 600,000 pre-sales across both platforms (400,000 for Xbox I believe). At this point Max Payne is about 100,000 behind RDR and is getting considerably less pre-orders at the same point.

I think it'll do fine though
