Sales for Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 neared 10,000 units in the latest weekly retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 9,763 units between Dec. 31 and Jan. 6. The hardware typically reaches sales of about 4,000 – 6,000 units per week.
Despite a larger sales factor, the Xbox 360 successor was unable to near sales of rival hardware machines, including Nintendo Co.'s Wii which sold nearly 208,000 units and Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 which sold 64,000 units in the same period.
In addition, the Xbox 360 was unable to chart any game titles in the top 50 software sales for the week.
