Techtorial: Those who are watching the trailer for Black Ops 2 can instantly distinguish the similarity of its graphics from its predecessor (Black Ops 1) released two years ago; suggesting there's no big improvements for its graphics engine despite of the recent interview conducted from its online director.
I hate people like that who are such graphics whores. Most of us want to buy a game, not an engine.
But yeh theres no point in giving COD better graphic's. I remember reading an article maybe a week ago "Console gamers only care about graphics", i thought bullshit when i read that. Blops 2 announcement proved me wrong :/

point of view i think Call Of Duty 1 to 3 was the best Call OF Dutys ever
obviously...
The PC version is supposed to have DX11 support but with also stating all versions will be the same I can't imagine it providing night / day difference graphically.
Unless you're talking about PC of course, but alas... The market is mainly aimed at the lowest common denominators
The fans of COD could care less about "cutting edge" graphics, most want dedicated servers, better hit detection, better matchmaking and better spawns.
I can't phantom what you people are thinking that want them to change a proven formula that IT'S FANS like, JUST to seem fresh to a group they care nothing about.
But you all are blokes. As soon as they change up and it's fanbase hates it you'll be saying how they should have done something else. Really cant grasp what is happening to gaming nowadays...
Seriously, considering the amount of revenue this franchise makes, it's astounding that a new engine hasn't been developed for utilisation in future instalments.
If I was part of the growing developers list for the Call of Duty franchise (post original Modern Warfare), I'd feel ashamed regarding the lack of innovation, or at least obliged to create a new engine, I mean, surely Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, Raven and Activision must be aware that the COD franchise is quickly becoming the joke of the games industry (quality wise), no wonder Robert Bowling left.
Countless, brilliantly talented developers such as Epic, Naughty Dog, Irrational and more take time with developing sequels, implement a large catalogue of new gameplay mechanics, improvements and more out of respect for both their community and their own reputation, Activision cares about neither.
You named a bunch of 'brilliantly talented' developers, none of which have made a multiplayer game running at 60fps.
Currently, the CoD games have a two-year dev cycle, which is pretty much the same for most other developers.
Nothing wrong with that.
I prefer an average looking game at 60fps, because of the smoother controls.
It's fine that a slower pace gameplay is great for you, how is it not great that others like something faster?
If I had to chose I'd take gameplay over graphics ANY day. Seems there are 20 million others that feel the same way.
Still though it will be lagging considerably behind most of the games coming out this year in terms of graphics.
Activision wants 20+ years cycle on their dev kit.
The only thing that forces them to change is the next generation hardware that will not be able to support their current game engine.
You can't keep the number of players in each game without making sacrifices. BF3 already proved that.
Business wise, they are doing what will make them money and hold off on losing money. You guys need to stop acting like every company is going to think of the consumers first then there sales.
I also do not see them making a heavy investment into a new/licensed engine until the next cycle of consoles.
Game like cod running round like blue ass fly oh look care package omg omg gota get my care package dam i think my frame rate dropped.
Incase you think wtf its called sense of humor
Why is there still so much hype for these games....?
2005 (we'll start with this one) COD2 came out. Wasn't a huge difference from the previous game...the graphics are seemingly better mainly because PC hardware has improved quite a lot in such a short time. Everything else though was just about the same.
skip COD 3, we all know why
COD4. Major changes, running is now an option, graphics have a significant difference, additionals such as killstreaks are added. And a whole new multiplayer design that is based around "upgrades" and levels"
CODWaW. Basically took the COD4 engine and placed it in a WWII setting..no changes here really. Just an expansion really, with tons of glithces
2009, CODMW2. Game looks much brighter (Graphics didn't really change in MW2....they just made the colors more vibrant from COD4, which made the graphics seemingly better).
2010 Black Ops. Again, just a game that took the previous engine and put it into a different setting. Just an expansion of the previous game
2011 MW3. Just a map pack of Mw2 that has new weapons and killstreaks.
2012 Black Ops II...just an expansion of the game before, that takes place in the future that replaces killstreaks with futuristic ideas such as drones, remote tanks, and shit we wish we will have in 2025.
So what is the COD series really? Just a big gigantic patch of COD2 and COD4, with new guns, maps and kill streaks.
