The bubble will burst. Invariably, the Kickstarter phenomena currently sweeping the indie games scene will suffer from a severe backlash. Color me pessimistic, but it is simply too good to last. Currently, any small development team with little more than a worthy pitch and the semblance of a team stands a reasonable chance of receiving funding for their upcoming product. While many of these teams already have something to show, others ask their backers to merely trust their word. Therein lies the problem. Eventually, one of these misaligned teams is going to write a check that they simply cannot cash.
