EpicSlash writes: "With the recent announcement of God of War: Ascension and its multiplayer mode I couldn't help but think, why? Does the game even need multiplayer? For that matter does every game need multiplayer?"
I pretty much never play online multiplayer, what sucks is that split screen is dying off. I want to play with my friends in the same room, not some 12 year old smartass in Minneapolis.
In Minneapolis! Hahaha, idk. Yea I agree, I don't play online too often, unfortunately it's not the popular opinion in today's gaming world. On reason why I loved Twisted Metal so much was because I spent so much time playing with my friends on the same screen, that's the original multiplayer, and still the best kind. I think this new multiplayer in God of War is a horrible idea, really disappointed that they sunk to that level.
I'm hoping splitscreen will make a comeback next gen. Til then we have StarHawk!
The biggest games have split-screen. Call of Duty for example..... So does Uncharted and many many others...which games are you playing dude?
People might consider going back and conducting searches, and look at the articles prior to God of War III launching. Remarks were repeatedly made asking, "Will God of War III have multiplayer? Games that do not run the risk of alienation in this generation." Damned if you do, damned if you do not. The fact is if one actually looks at the multiplayer structure that has been revealed thus far it is fairly unique and quite suited to the GoW universe. I give it two chaos blades up.
No, not every game does. But no matter what people say the money and time spent on MP could have been spent on polishing or lengthening the SP. It doesn't matter if it's a different team and there is a planed budget for it, the fact remains that all that time, money and energy could have been spent on the SP. People always use Uncharted 2 as an example. Yes, it had an ok MP mode. To me it was ok. I probably played it for 3-4 hours as opposed to the SP which I probably played close to 50-60 because of the multiple playthroughs. But to those people I just say, Skyrim. That game proves that you deffenatly don't need to have MP to sell millions or make a game that lasts more than 5hours. But, MP is there in GoW. Let's get used to it. As I said before, I'd much rather have seen a longer SP than MP. But that's just me.
I am NOT an online gamer. Never have been, don't believe I ever will be. Why? Well, it's not a good reason for everyone but, I'm old. I was there for the Big Bang of videogames. We played text adventures for goodness sake. I like playing single player games and, no offense, don't care about chatting, in game, cross game, just don't care. Therefore, with God of War being one of my favorites of all time, I was afraid this was going to happen. If the single player is as epic as the previous installments I won't really care about there being multiplayer added in. In fact, if they make it a certain way I may actually play it! You see, there are two games, and probably more that I don't know about, where I can appreciate the multiplayer. They are Killzone 2 and Killzone 3. Why? Because I can play the multiplayer modes by myself with all bots. Yes, the challenge is not the same but I can play the maps and think of them as an extension of the single player experience. And I don't have to listen to a bunch of 10 year olds cursing at me...
I don't play multiplayer in probably 90% of games I purchased. Usually only play top of the line multiplayer games which are primarily multiplayer games and not tacked on. This way I don't have to use up the code and can sell the game for more.
Does every movie need Will Smith?
How is that even of question? Of course they do.
I think a more appropriate question would be "Does every movie need Samuel L Jackson?" And the answer is yes, yes they do.
An atmospheric adventure game is fun when one person is involved so it must get exponentially more fun as you add more people into the mix.
only games i play multiplayer in are d3 gt5 i played hawx/hawx 2 but i dislike multiplayr when i play its entirly with friends the othernight we speant 5 hours racing around daytona discussing what you would have to do to buld a sequential turbo into a car
id say about 90% of my gaming is multiplayer but i dont think every game has to have multiplayer as long as the game is fun& long enough...go Starhwk
The fact is that all developers must include multiplayer, since current state of gaming "journalism" will criticize the game if it is absent. I remember when Uncharted 1 came out, reviewers stated the lack of MP as a con. Honestly, rather give me one or the other. Rather than a good SP game with tacked on MP, such as Dead Space 2. Or a good MP game with tacked on SP, such as BF3. But reviewers won't agree with me.
uncharted was 8 hours long compared to other games at that time.
Does everyone have to have an opinion and write an article like 35 other people? Guess so.
well multiplayer is a way to extend your games life, onli game i play over and over is uncharted and thats because the story is soo good specially uncharted 3.
well multi player is a very nice addition on the game, i dont have complaints on it whatsoever
