IGN reviews Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat brutalizes the Vita with tons of features, new and old. US, May 1, 2012 May 1, 2012 May 1, 2012
why compare the graphics to the ps3 version? its not a ps3, but it looks awesome for a handheld game.
I, for one, wanted to know how it held up. It's a perfectly reasonable thing to examine, seeing as they're essentially the same game, and I'm sure many people would like to know how it compares before taking the plunge.
Especially when other developers can deliver near console quality games on the system, it is interesting to see how this one stacks up.
you have a point. im getting it in a few hours, having never played the ps3 version so,,, i could care less bout a few pixels. i just dont ever see the vita having its own standards. i guess you cant really compare it to a 3ds cause its a lil more powerful, or the ps3 cause its a lil less powerful. i guess it will always be this way in terms of graphics. oh well
I think it's necessary to a certain point, but I also think that too many of the system's detractors like to use it as a point AGAINST the system: it looks good, but it doesn't look as good as the console version. Think about the people who've said, "Why would I want console-like games on my handheld?" To most gamers, that seems like a ridiculous question: why WOULDN'T you want console-like games on your handheld? But this obviously positive thing has been turned into a negative. I'm glad to hear the game looks and plays great, though I myself probably won't play it.
Agree. Like Uncharted GA getting CONS for not being as epic as it's console counter part even though it's the longest Uncharted and has the most puzzles plus the Mysteries challenges and is the best looking handheld game out. Double standards. Compare but don't rate that. You should compare on it's own merit. Compare it to other handheld titles of similar style. But it's best to tell us your experiences and judge that way.
Look at the positive of that, though. You have a handheld game that looks comparable to console games. That means it's utterly pointless comparing it to other handhelds, which come nowhere near that mark. The gameplay and feature set are comparable to console games too, length and all, which means they're pretty much the logical thing by which to gauge quality, relatively speaking. It's really more of a compliment that PSV games are the only handheld games that can stand up alongside console games and be judged to be of similar quality. It's like they've been bumped up to the big leagues, or skipped a grade at school. They're that much better than their supposed competition that they can't be judged by the same rules, but those of the next higher class.
ive been playin it for a few hours,,graphics are horrible. when in action you wont notice, but its the cut scenes and fatalities that look like shit. anyways gameplay is smooth and it plays awesome though. glad thats there. definetly worth my purchase for that
