Claudine Beaumont writes, "The battle between competing high-definition DVD formats is over, it has been claimed."
I wouldn't be surprised at the amount of these n4g articles if it weren't for the fact that all of the sources are unique, its just a bad time for hddvd, oh well, payback for all the ps3 backlash i suppose.
really? last I checked it was they claimed victory in HIGH def format war not dvd war..cause last i checked DVD was outselling them super bad.
bro u are jealous. Super Jealous. Just shut up. Blu Ray is in the PS3(WHAT I PLAY MY GAMES ON)...give it a rest el doucheo. YES WE KNOW DVD IS OBVIOUSLY BEATING BLU RAY IT IS ONE YEAR OLD. The point is Blu Ray IS the next DVD.LOL Yes something Wicked this way comes... Universal is merging with Blu Ray
DVD is still winning this war by a landslide. And as far as High Def goes, well we'll see in the coming months, as I believe something wicked this way comes. Pay close attention in the next 3 months as new announcements will be coming.
..... HD-DVD is finally dead, buried, and has already decomposed?
If you have a both HD DVD player & Blu ray player, like I do, there are no worries. Blu Ray camp is acting like they won WWII, gezz. Give this crap a rest already.
No not until paramount and unversial go blu ray which will happen soon..
The guy that wrote this isn't really that smart. I know blu ray will/has won, but blu ray isn't a form of dvd. Everyone keeps saying blu ray dvds, and they're totally different. They aren't even written using the same thing. The only thing they have in common is they both are round. If you're gonna write an article, you should know what you're talking about.
Did you know that Blu-ray discs can now be manufactured in the same facilities that DVD and CDs were made with minor adjustments? Just like HD-DVD, thanks to recent advancements from BDA (thanks, technology). Just thought I'd let you know. After all, Blu-ray discs are optical media just like DVDs and CDs, and they are read with lasers. The difference is the color and the dimensions of the lasers, and that Blu-ray discs are made with better materials (naturally a next-gen format would be better in every way, not just halfway). (that's what you are talking about, right?) However, I do agree, it's god awful when they call them "Blu-ray DVD" when it's just a Blu-ray. DVD is last-gen, Blu-ray is not.
Really smart guy? So your saying that bluray is not a DVD? lets see. "Digital video disk" So bluray is not written in Digital code? (must be analog) blueray does not do video? (must be a holagram) and bluray is not on a disk? (yeah that round thing is a frisbee)
i'm a blu supporter but it's too early to make such a declaration
Last time BDA claimed victory PS3 sales went down the toilet in NA & 2008 is shaping up to be a repeat of 2007: Week ending Jan. 5, 2007 PS3 sales were at 63,040 & falling Week ending Jan. 6, 2008 PS3 sales were at 69,298 & falling Problem for Sony is that PS3 isn't sustaining sales even with a $200 price cut. BDA may be claiming victory, again, but consumers remain unconvinced. HD-DVD could still eek out a win in the HD format war from a $100 price cut on the 360.
"Warner Bros is a $42bn home-entertainment business. Any payment would have been a drop in the ocean compared to getting it wrong with the consumer."
bubble for that.
Like the 7th time they've claimed the war is over and they've won? This is nothing but marketing. Though BluRay seems to stand the best chance, HD-DVD is not done with yet. In the least they're going to be causing BluRay some trouble for at least another year or more.
