Top 10 Best Fighting Games

GP: "Fighting games are one of my favorite genres. Even now, I still have fond memories of blistering my thumbs on Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition on the Sega Genesis trying to master the nuances of the hadoken and hurricane kick.

Suffice it to say, I’ve played many fighting games over the years, and with the recent announcement of Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, what better time to reflect on what the best games in the genre are, right? So I present to you a list of some of my personal favorites and the best of the best that have defined and redefined the genre over the years."

SC5 really wasn't all that great compared to some of the previous Soul Calibur titles.

MK made a good come back. Hopefully the next MK will better.

UMvC3, I still prefer MvC2 at least back then I didn't have to worry about Super,Ultimate or Arcade-edition 6 to 8 after a release.

I have to disagree with you on soul calibur.

SC5 has the best gameplay in the series, and the character creation is amazing.

yes SC3 was the best content wise but the fighting was no where as good.

and please dont say SC2 was the best because link was in it :P

Replace Street Fighter x Tekken with Rival Schools, Street Fighter Alpha 3 with Third Strike, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 with Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Soul Calibur 5 with Soul Calibur I or II and the lack of King Of Fighters (especially '98) or anything SNK is puzzling.

I haven't played Blazblue Continuum Extend yet to judge but to topple Guilty Gear is quite the feat.......

P.S WHERE IS TEKKEN 3!!!!!???

SC1 and 2 better than SC5? lol wtf. the gameplay is way better in SC5, you gotta be kidding me. Well to each his/her own i guess.

i liked all soul games since soul edge, but the gameplay has only improved, level designs are much better aswell in 5 and you dont have to worry about ring outs as much.

fighting system is alot deeper and funner to play.

i think your enjoying the nostalgia of the first 2 Soulcal games more than the gameplay

Has no one played Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 on the PS2? I've always been a huge fan of Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc. etc., but that game took the cake and was hands down the best fighter I've ever played. So many styles, so many strategies, just too much fun. You can go all out in a match, or take risks with fusion variations or Majin Vegeta. Crap, I gotta go play now...

The author of the article should be van daminatored by rvd for not including any snk games on that list because snk were known for making top notch fighting franchises.

P.S. A top 10 wouldn't be big enough to list all the best fighting games of all time.Also enjoy this awesome clip below!
